I have a Celtic one on my lower back. I'm thinking about getting it extended up my spine. I think it would look way cool.

As a heavily tattooed woman working on covering my entire body, I of course think tattoos are beautiful. However, when I see small tattoos on the back, especially the lower back, it's like looking at a huge blank canvas with only one small spot painted. What's hotter than a lower-back tattoo? A full back tattoo! And I believe firmly that the best tattoos come from doing lots of research, finding an artist whose work you love unconditionally, going to that artist, telling her what your passions are, and then stepping back and trusting her to come up with something beautiful based on who you are and what gets you going. Nothing, NOTHING, is more offensive to a tattoo artist than walking in with some picture your friend drew and asking that artist to copy that drawing onto you.

Lots of women have lower back tattoos, but a full backpiece is a true work of art -- provided you find someone really good to put it on you. To get some idea of what a tattoo can truly be, I would suggest looking at the work of Anil Gupta (http://www.anilgupta.com) -- other artists whose work is amazing and inspiring are Denise de la Cerda, Hannah Aitchison, Guy Aitchison, Robert Hernandez, Tim Kern, and Emma Porcupine, to name just a few. Do your homework, think about what really gets you going in life, don't be afraid to go BIG, and you'll end up with a piece of art you'll love forever. Good luck -- and remember that it's not about others' opinions, it's about what really gets you going visually and conceptually.

I know I'm in the minority on this but I hate tattoos on women, or more specifically hot women cause I don't care what ugly women do with their bodies. The best way I can explain my feelings on tattoos and hot women is to draw an analogy. A beautiful woman's body is like a work of art and to tattoo it would be like spray painting graffiti on the Mona Lisa or any other classic painting. You can't improve on perfection. If you're hot a tattoo certainly won't make you any hotter, it will only distract and detract somewhat from your beauty. And if you absolutely have to get a tat at least get something original, every woman under the age of 30 now has some kind of tat on their lower back and they all pretty much look the same.

Honestly, I don't see anything attractive about tattooes on women or men for the most part.

On a personal level, I could never get one because I know I'd get sick of it.

Nah sorry but I think they make a woman look cheap and as they have been around and think they are a little tuffer for having them. Of course this is a major generalisation I know but that's the way I see it.

The one you have now is fine, as long as you don't show it off in a gross way... you know? but your next idea about extending it just sounds like it would make you look trashy (no offense!!!) you know what I mean? Hope it helps you

I think they look dirty on a man or woman. It is something not so easy to remove if you don't like it. We make children wash off ink but adults get permanent ones.
