No. It is other way round in Hinduism. The rituals are scientifically evolved to purify the atmosphere, the body, the mind and then the soul so as to concentrate in meditation in the deity of one's faith. The teachings are the results of following those prescribed paths designed for different categories of people in accordance with one's capability to attain the Truth.

In religions like Islam, there is very little in the teachings from Koran that strengthens the faith. In the Koran there is prescription to kill the non-believers by which Allah gets pleased. The ritual strengthens the fear for God and the expectation of getting rewarded in material gains not only here on this earth, but also in the paradise with 60 damsels to give carnal satisfaction provided one dies during Jihad. So, it is the fear that is dictated by the teachings in the Holy Koran.

In Hinduism the Indian philosophy sets a very broad base to inculcate faith in the Almighty and places rituals as secondary. The multiple God they worship only represents various divine aspects of the one and only one God with out any name.

Faith is more important than rituals. But in Islam ritual is more important, so much so that there is a prolonged feud between two sects called Shia and Sunni who can not tolerate each other because of ritualistic differences. I am a Christian and for us faith in God is more important.
