How far is the closest mountain resort area from New York City? Also, any suggestions for things to do in NYC with kids (ages 4, 7, 10)...we are already going to a Yankees game...thanks!

Following the Yankee game go directly to church. Wear a helmet because if you die before you confess and repent from putting money in Stienbrenners pocket, God has made a no mercy policy quite clear!

Bear Mountain is the closest mountain resort.
Museums, especially the Natural History Museum and C-MOM.
Broadway shows, especially the Disney ones (get discount tickets at TKTS)
Theme restaurants. Mars 2112 is really cool.
The Circle Line to see the Statute of LIberty and Ellis Island

Try www.gocitykids.com for finding activities in NYC. Go to the webiste, enter the city & state, enter the dates you are going to be in town. It will produce a huge list of family friendly things for indoors/outdoors, festivals, art shows, etc. We use that site all the time and subscribe to it so we never miss a thing.

Closest mountin resort.. is POKONOS>>> about 4 hours.
NYC>>> with kids.. take them sight seeing.. statchue of liberty...
shopping at toys r us.. in times sq.. 42ed street...
try the central park zoo...
metropolotian musium of art.. if they are into that.. ..
or just take a walk ... on 5th ave.. that is allways fun..
or sony wonder tech lab.. its funn.

Closest moutain resorts are in the Catskills, there are places from economy to luxury, where they filmed Dirty Dancing.
