The Spainards.
Since 1493, the Kingdom of Spain had maintained a number of missions throughout Nueva España (New Spain, consisting of Mexico and portions of what today are the Southwestern United States) in order to facilitate colonization of these lands. In 1533, at the request of Hernán Cortés, Carlos V sent the first Franciscan monks with orders to establish a series of installations throughout the country.

It certainly was NOT any of the native Americans, I would think that is almost impossible to determine. Every country that sent people over the Atlantic was involved in 'the church' in degree, either Catholic or Protestant, no doubt that all of them brought at least one Bible along...

Almost without exception our country was founded by people who wrote bills and gave speaches that were taken word for word out of the bible.
