I have Tylenol that's like expired 2001... but I desperately need some... Wonder if it's better to buy some or just take the ones laying around in the house... but I don't want to if there's a major health risk like some danger of old pain killers.

I used to think it was okay many years ago too. The pharmacist told me to never take any drug that was filled more than one year ago. He said the same things like the chemical composition might change and that you might find one that is not as effective but also added that you could also end up taking one that has tripled in strength. He said some lose their effectiveness and it will be picked up by another making it stronger than meant to be. Dangerous to take old meds.

2001 is a while back 'but the expired drugs or tylenol in your case are still good ;they just don;t have that much strength like they did in 2001.i've taken expired pills that i had and some worked and some were so old they were falling apart from age....LOL

We are the only country that has an expiration date. Take them, but it is true that they might not be as effective. So buy more when you get a chance, but for now, you will be ok if you take them.

Buy some new ones. They might not be as effective, or the chemical composition might have changed.

They probably just won't be effective. You should just buy new ones.
