Last year my husband came across a job opening in Acworth. I researched it online and it looks like a great town. However I would like to hear from someone who actually lives there or close by. We currently live in Florida and I hate it. I am looking for a small town feel but yet have all the shopping amenites a girl could need. Not sure if that exists. :) Good schools would be a plus which I heard they were great in Cobb County. I like the fact that it isn't too far from Atlanta (airport, things to do) and it has alot of housing which really appeals to me. If you have another town you would like to recommend, by all means! Or if you could tell me what you don't like, that would help too! Thank you!

I live in Acworth, Cobb County Schools. I like it here but I nanny in Cherokee County (Woodstock, GA) in the Towne Lake Area and those are even better! It is a small more communal feel. They have shopping there and if you head down the highway there is the major mall just about 6 miles down.

Traffic in this area isn't bad at all (w/ exception of rush hour on the highway) I love it and feel VERY much at home in Towne Lake. They have everything from sports, theater (www.tlaclive.com), parks, GREAT schools, Also, if you take another highway over the Northpoint mall is within 30 mins. I nanny for 2 families one in Towne Lake and the other just north in Canton (www.bridgemill.com)

Bridgemill is an amazing family community. A little further from shopping but it boast a 3 acre pool, tennis (the teams are a key to social life!), golf course, play groups, a private fitness center, a restraunt in the neighborhood, and more! The prices there cover the entire spectrum! \\

I really enjoy our area. Kennesaw (just south of Acworth and even though my addie is Acworth I am closer to Kennesaw) has an historic downtown complete with train tracks and festivals in the summer! Its great just a lil busier and not quite as nice as the other areas I mentioned. Make sure your subdivision has a pool! Mine doesn't and there aren't public pools around (the YMCA is your only other option or the water park) so it is worth the HOA dues!

Also, Kennesaw State University (over 20,000 students) is super close so if you have college aged or near there kids they you can have college close complete with the HOPE scholarship!!!

Well i live in Kennesaw and have been since my move from a major city in South Florida.
Acworth and Kennesaw actaully neighbour each other, both cities are small and in Kennesaw there is the mall, lots of shops and amenities, movie theatres and the like. I never go into the city of atlanta, except for the airport which is about thrity five miles away. there is also kennesaw mountain which has a great nature trail run and hike, cyclying and the like. There is also Lake Acworth and it's beautiful too. If looking for property look in kennesaw too, as Acworth is a small town and you may limit your options in terms of housing.

Oh my gosh girl I am excited for you! I live in Midtown atlanta, which is just north of downtown, and I ALWAYS go to Marietta and Acworth. Why? SHOPPING! lol, that is why when you said you would like to live in a small town with all the shopping along with it, I think that will work great for you. The only thing that sucks about living out there is the traffic would be horrible every morning and evening during rush hour, but since your husband will work right in Acworth that works out perfect. The people are all really nice and it seems very safe. Many new houses are in Acworth and Marietta which is what brings more people out there, but they have all the Walmarts, targets, car shops tj maxxes etc etc you will need lol.

Acworth is a typical southern railroad town that was incorporated in 1860. Although this progressive north Cobb city of 13,422 residents continues to grow in size and recognition, the city strives to maintain the safe and friendly atmosphere characteristic of small town life. The downtown buildings have retained many of the architectural details of the original structures form the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a period of great prosperity for the region.

Acworth is designated as a Georgia Main Street city and is part of the Main Street America program. Acworth is the only city in Cobb County participating with the Main Street America program.

Acworth, Georgia, located about 35 miles northwest of Atlanta, exemplifies the quality of life most Americans dream of. While it is close enough to Atlanta to experience professional sports and cultural events equated with a larger city, the small-town atmosphere of Acworth provokes opportunities for families that offer fun and tranquility.

Convenient to both Interstate 75 and Highway 41, area hotels are comfortable and are run by community members. Visitors, whether in the mood for down-home southern cooking, a quick sandwich, spicy Cajun cuisine or parlor style ice cream, will find a wide range of choices.

Acworth is surrounded by two beautiful lakes (Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona) which offer beaches for swimming, fishing, boating and camping opportunities. There are twelve parks that surround Acworth for picnicking.

Good luck! This place is absolute heaven.

A great place to live is Kennesaw, Georgia. It's a quaint town, with low crime rate, good neighborhoods throughout. Reasonably good schools, good job opportunities. And about 45-50 minutes from Atlanta, depending on traffic. The citizens are all very nice, too. Hope I helped. It's a great place to live
