Oh yes, you've definitely hit upon something there. After all, it's much easier to put heavy judgment on our brothers and sisters if we don't look at our own faults, isn't it?

But there's more. I think the human mind has an inborn proclivity towards judging others. It's a habit.

I work with a guy who seems to judge constantly...always in a bad way, too. Always assuming the very worst about motives. "The person going to lunch right now isn't going because they're hungry, they're doing it to *mess* with me!" Sounds crazy, but he goes like this all day. It's revealed later in some of the bizarre accusations he makes....that these were his thoughts.

And so, I judged him about his ceaseless judgment...whoops! I had to look more closely at that!

As I looked more closely, I realized -- in time --that I also had a constant stream of judgments going on about people around me. "This one is so mean, this one is so pretty, this one is so nice...."

A constant stream of judgment! And not all of it too nice. A lot of it is pretty mean...sometimes all of it is horrible.

I concluded that it's in all of us. Maybe the courage to admit it is the only difference between us, else we're all the same, all doing this.

I'm working on getting delivered from all judgment ASAP. My judgment and others'. I think there's no escaping judgment until we 1st escape the judging that we do....thanx the question.

There is a difference between judging someone yourself, which is and always will be unrighteous judgement, and allowing the Word of God to judge.
Example: Christians know ( if they study ) what the Word of God says about Jesus. He was the only begotten Son of God, He died for our sins, that we might be reconciled with God, that He was resurrected and ascended into Heaven, and so on and so forth. We know these things to be truths, if we are faithful believers.
Then suppose that you meet someone in life, or here on R&S that comes up and tells you that Jesus was not the Son of God, that He did not die for your sins, etc.
You consider what this person is saying, you consider what the Word of God says, and you must realize that the Word of God has already judged what that person is saying as being a lie. In that context, the Word of God judges, and judges rightly. You have the right to tell that person that the words that they have spoken are wrong according to what you know to be the truth.

"For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." ( Hebrews 4:12 )

Sometimes. Other times it's because they are perfectionists and hold everyone, including themselves to an unapproachable high standard. Then there are those who just "know" they're "right" so they judge others against that.

That surely is a good reason....but I think also that those that judge somehow feel 'superior' to others and therefore they render ugly or negative judgements to justify the lofty position they feel thay have.....or to make themsellves feel 'better than the other person' in their mind.

Very good statement. They are too "busy" talking about someone else to really see the messed up parts of their thinking or life...... gets the light off of them.

Many times when a person accuses or judges another person of something it usually reflects that negative thing in their life.

Probably so. It seems like the most bitter and judgmental people tend to accuse others of the very things that they are guilty of themselves.

And I speak from experience with my own judgments of others.
