If you "break the rules" within whatever your religion is...then you are not devoutly following it.

Thats because religion is just a general belief someone came up with. People don't like parts of a religion so they don't follow it. Also, a religion gives someone a sense of security whether they follow it or not as long as they claim to follow it. As for the suicide bombers, although I am not a muslim, i can tell you that they are a bit of a different brand of Islam than mainstream islam because they think that they were destined to spread the religion by any means and don't care much for peace.

I'll answer the Christian portion of your question:
You are assuming that if one wears the cross or Christian themed shirts, they must be devout. Wrong. How devout one is is measured by one's actions and adherence and reverence to the Word of God, not by their public display of faith. In fact, the Bible in 1 Corinthians reminded us to worship with a sincere heart and not to do it for show.
The worth of faith is in the Faith and God Himself, not in it's believers. Even if there were no believers, the worth Faith is still the same. The power and righteousness of God is still the same.
The quantity of believers should never be a gauge on how true Chrisitianity is. Neither should the behaviour of the believers be a reflection of the worth of Faith in God.
Hope this is answers your question :)

Christians are not saved by the law, Christians are saved by Grace.
This means that we are not perfect. We know we are going to make mistakes and learn from them and become better people.
Gay's have just as much chance for going to hell as someone who eats shrimp. Both are against the Mosaic law.
This is a bit of a pun I use when someone asks me about this and I am often told it is sick and wrong, but, It is not what goes into a man that corrupts, it is what comes out of him.
So you put your faith in the law if you want.
My faith is in Christ.

As an Agnostic, do you have any rules to follow? Have you ever broken any rules? Or are you a law unto yourself? I am a Christian and thank God He made a provision for my sin, through His Son Jesus Christ, because I would be the biggest sinner of all times. I believe they would have had a Reality Show of my life "Sinner Chieftain." The great part about it all, God uses ordinary sinners like me, to glorify His name. I lied, stole, fornicated, committed adultery, unforgiveness, jealousy, hate others, you name it.....but thank be to God who causes me to triumph, through the blood of Jesus Christ, I am a new creature, and making progress daily.

Sin skill to intentionally disobey, so no, they does not have been sinning and that they gained't bypass to hell for that reason. i'm a Mormon. LDS doctrine makes allowance for people who died devoid of understanding God's will. they are going to study the fulness of the Gospel interior the spirit worldwide, the place they are able to settle for or reject it, as they choose. it truly is the reason we do baptisms by means of proxy, on behalf of people who've exceeded on. They nevertheless get the comparable possibility at each and all the reward that we take excitement in, because of the fact the priesthood and the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ substitute into restored to earth. confident, you do could shop on with the be attentive to God to the better of your capacity. in case you bypass against what you comprehend (or have faith) is suitable, it truly is sin. we could stay by means of our consciences. after we make errors, and understand that we've been incorrect, that's what faith in Jesus Christ is for. To make up for the errors that we made, that we experience sorry for. All devotion to God is rewarded, no rely no rely if it truly is accomplished in errors, "for the Lord looketh on the guts."

i think as a rule , people like order, law and to feel good about themselves by following to a set of rules. religion offers that for most. they may be idiot, and break their religion's rules, and God might really dislike them. But to those people they are just deluding themselves by thinking by following one set of rules that they will get to heaven and not burn in hell for eternity.
