It all depends on the situation; if you two have been keeping in close contact and you still really feel that spark then I definitely would trust him. However, if you have lost touch it will be even harder to rekindle that old flame and I would be wary about waiting around for him.

Although it is good to place your trust on your boyfriend, you should also be prepared to face the possibility that he won't wait for you. Reality check: the human heart is fickle and forgetful. You can go ahead and believe him, but make sure your heart is strong enough to face reality if in case he does not keep his promise.

you can hope he will, but having new friends of both sexes is always fun, and perhaps you will find someone you want even more. time will tell, and don't waste time waiting on someone to fulfill a dream for you.
