I'm writing an Easter speech for the kids to do at my church and I'm not sure which one sounds right. Should I use "Jesus died on the cross to save our sins" or "Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins?"
I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Let me give you an analogy:

Eg. You saw house on fire and there is a man trapped within the flames. What do u shout?

1. Save the fire!!!
2.Save the man from the fire!!!!

I'm pretty sure you would choose 2. wouldn't you? Same logic applies in the context of Lord Jesus' deeds because:

1. Like the man, we are helplessly trapped and cannot save ourselves.
2. Jesus appeals to God to forgive us like the bystander who appeals to someone stronger to save
3. Sin is like fire that consumes and hurts us.

Hope that is an adequate answer :)

Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins, because Jesus wouldn't save sins, that wouldn't make sense ;o) It's so awesome that you're doing an Easter speech, and the fact that it's for kids makes it even more awesome. Good luck! and good job!

Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. You can only get to the father(God) through the son (Jesus Christ) The best way I can describe this is as follows: Make a fist with your right hand. This represents you and all your sins. Take your left hand and place over your right. This represents Jesus. Now imagine God looking down on you and only seeing Jesus covering you. God can only see Jesus, not our sins. This is what Christ did for us. By him dieing on the cross, He took our place. That if you believe in him you will have ever lasting life. He died for us! We are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. When you accept Jesus as your savour, you become born again. This is generally represented with an adult baptism. So to answer your question, Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.

Hope this helps!!! God bless!!

Jesus didnt die to save sins but rather he died to save us from sin

He died to save us from our sins. The other way sounds like we are keeping our sin, or He saves them for us.

The latter. Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. My reasoning below:

What's the whole point of salvation? Check this: God at the
beginning of time sets up laws, scientific laws, gravity,
etc. He also sets up a basic law of obedience: love God and
love your neighbor. Man broke these two laws (the core of
the Ten Commandments). All of us break these laws. God has
already said if you don't follow these laws you will be put
to death. But since He loves His creation, He doesn't want
to destroy them. He wants a way to save them. But how?
Sacrifice. Executing the consequence but on someone else.
But who could be worthy enough to be sacrified for billions
of people since the beginning of time? God. So He went to
earth, and died for the sins of man.

All He asks now is for you to accept that. That is
salvation. He doesn't want you to pull up a list of things
so you can be 'Christian'. He just wants you to accept that
He died for you and that your sins are forgiven when you ask
of it to be.

Fourth, now how about attitudes and following laws and
regulations and all this jazz. You have to see God as a
friend rather than a cop. Just for an example, if you
hang out with friends that smoke all the time, you are
influenced to do so yourself and might take up smoking.
In the same way, if you hang out with God and people that
believe in Him, you will be influenced to live that kind of
life. The change is progressive, and to some people
instant. But it all starts out with befriending God.

Can I offer a third option?

Jesus died so that we would be forgiven of our sins.

Especially if you are teaching kids, you can emphasize the importance of forgiving others.

he died to save us from our sins. i am not sure it's ok to tell kids that a great man died to save them from their sins though.
