How does one know if they are getting waswaas (whispers from Sataan). Is there anything that can be done? Thanks to those that may help, and please serious answers.

when you know that you want to do something that is obviously against what is clearly right.
Always no matter what listen to your conscience. Your conscience is the little voice inside of your head saying "No don't steal, its bad" and the whispers from the devil are saying "Yeah go steal it will make you look cool"
Its kinda like in the cartoons when they had the devil on the left shoulder and angel on the right shoulder and they would always fight.
Do ward of the devil, or in Arabic shatain, this is what you say
"Authu bilahi min al shaitann al rejiim"
It means:
I seek refuge with God and to save me from the devil
or something like this, its not exact translation but that is basically what it means.
and also if you now sura Al-Nas
then recite that, and it will help.

I'm afraid I can't help, but I will offer a serious observation.
That is such an interesting concept. I know I'm quite ignorant of a lot of Abrahamic beliefs, particularly those of Muslims, but I guess it had never occurred to me before that if you hear can hear the voice of the "good guy," why wouldn't you hear the voice of the "bad guy"?
I hope you get some serious and helpful answers, but thanks for opening my eyes to a new concept.

If you know your going to break the law of ALLAH then that most likely the shaitan.
You can say takbeer or recite and read the quran, or pray if it's time for prayer

Usually its anything negitive outside of your own personality. You should read ayatul kursi, surat al ikhlas,surat al nas and al falaq in the mornings and evenings.
