Sad to say in most cases you are right. People should read their Bible what real happiness and joy is about. I don't like a lot of preachers on TV because they are deceitful and deceptive. I wonder if they would still be on the air if they did not make false promises and guilt trips when they prey on people to give. The Bible says Matthew 6:8 You heavenly father knows your needs Even before you ask and God has been meeting needs since the beginning of time He does not need "help" from the media. They will answer to God for what they have done in this life or the next or even both. Good question I am proud of you this shows that you are no pushover. Good for you.

I'm a Christian, but I've got to say you've got a fairly good question here. When I think of people like Tammy Faye and Oral Roberts, I've got to say that TV evangelism seems to be a good route for shilling the rubes, but I wouldn't condemn all TV evangelists on the behavior of some, or maybe most. I don't watch these phonies, so I don't know them all that well.

you have to realize that most of these ministers started out as honest men of God looking to preach Gods love, but as their ministry grew so do the the pressure to pay the bills and get on more stations, as their ministry grew so did their donations, and they went from taking a salary to taking a percentage.
I do not believe that most of them started out to make big money as a televangelist, but they got overwhelmed and as the money got bigger so did their desire for bigger and better things.
but there are still several T.V. ministries where the ministers receive a small salary, and trust personal donations to increase their life style, I know of one that was given a new mercedes on the condition the He not put it into the ministry but use it for his personal use.

They are evil, because they make many people disgusted at the "Christian" religion. Their lies spread distrust and skepticism in the world. Many people believe them and keep sending money when they have very little because they think they are doing good when the "ministry" people are just taking it and buying houses and cars.

They will pay one day.

All things work for good to those who love the lord. The phony tv people are in trouble, but the pure of heart that give will get a blessing anyway. Its more blessed to give than receive

Allow me to present to you for your consideration,a ministry that was founded by a friend of mine Richard Wurmbrand,a messianic Jew,that spent 14 years in prison, enduring horrible and unspeakeable tortures(as much as 17 hours a day) for his faith in Jesus Christ. And would not deny his Savior,so as to enjoy immediate release.

ooh i can't stand people like that. anyone who uses God's name to get their own selfish way is just.. the worst! I don't believe all tv ministries are like this, and certainly not regular off-screen ministries, but you do have to be careful that they aren't scamming you.. that's such a horrible thing to do, and it IS evil, just as you said.

TV ministries must be paid too they have many expenses. and charity to support. They as a general rule are hard working people and are not extremely wealthy. If you don't like their ministry you are invited not to watch then or to support them.
