If they have done you wrong financially then it would be appropriate to give money. Anything else would be tacky but a sign of how desperately sorry they are. They know that "sorry" isn't enough. They obviously feel really horrible and deserve to be forgiven... but the forgiver DOES NOT have to forget. It will take time to earn the trust back.

Money cant buy forgiveness, no matter how much, and no matter what the crime. If somebody harmed my child I wouldnt take the money and I wouldnt forgive them , I would also likely seek revenge .. for example. What that money would buy, in most instances, is not forgiveness, but for someone to act as if they forgive you by not reminding them of what they did wrong.

I wouldn't take the money. If I could forgive, I would, just as a matter of principle. But not for money.

People have become possessed by the almighty dollar and think that it can buy them anything. If you let them buy you, that what does that say about you? I wouldn't take money to forgive someone.
