Yes in the most strict sence of my question ( i asked incorrectly) you did answer correctly d_chino_m. I should have asked who originated the idea of a secret rapture.

Clusium1971 - You are right when you say those groups are the main pushers of the false doctrine of the secret rapture, however it is increasingly being found more within other protestant groups.

1. Margaret MacDonald
2. Darby
3. Scofield.
Edit:
But it was Margaret MacDonald who had the "visions", and Darby and Scofield were two pastors that popularized it.

No theory.
In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Paul tells us of an event in the future when the Lord shall call up first the dead in Christ and then the living to be with him in the clouds.
He also mentions it in 1 Corinthians 15:50-57. He tells us that it will happen in "the twinkling of an eye."
Jesus even mentions it in Matthew 24:30-31.

You posted that the Rapture is a theory which has been popularized by much of the Christian world today.
I disagree. The Rapture is only a popular belief amongst fundie Prots such as Baptists & Pentecostals, etc. Mainline Christian groups, such as Catholics, Orthodox, Anglicans/Episcopalians, Lutherans, Presbyterians, & Methodists, etc, don't promote such a belief.

Jesus Christ, Apostle Paul, _____________.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 - Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Verse 17
then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Caught up in the clouds ...
"The Greek word for `caught up' is rendered as "raplemur" in the Vulgate and other Latin versions, whence the event is sometimes called `the rapture,' or snatching away of the saints." F33
To meet the Lord in the air ...
Not to dwell with him "in the air," but then to accompany him to the new heaven and the new earth. All kinds of speculation are postulated on these words. As Hubbard noted:
Endless fellowship with Christ - where? Does the whole retinue ascend to heaven or return to earth? Any answer given will depend on the total interpretation of New Testament eschatology. Pre-tribulationists posit an ascension with a subsequent return to earth. Post-tribulationists hold that a descent to earth follows this reunion.

Margaret MacDonald, a 15 year old Scottish girl invented it in 1830. She coined the phrase.
John Darby and William Blackstone preached it and turned it into a modern concept between 1840 and 1880.
It's a NEW AGE belief system.
The term is not found in any KJV or Greek Codec.
