How do I stop the virus-scan in Office?

Every time I try and open Word or Excel, it takes an extra couple of minutes because it is "requesting a virus scan". Now, as nothing gets onto my computer without going through a scan, this is a pretty useless waste of time. How do I stop Office doing this?

Don't know that you can. Call the IT help line. If they have it configured that way, you will have to get permission to have it changed. Don't hold your breath.
