So many people claim it's impossible to be in love when you're 16 they say you don't know what real love is blah blah, but you don't have to marry the person you love you just have to be commited to them at that time.. I have been with my boyfriend for the past 2 and a half years and if someone is going to try and tell me i'm not in love with him they're insane. Plus, there's so many couples that are older and claim that you can't be in love at such a young age but they're getting divorced left and right. What are your opinions?

Yes, you can be in love. I'm very much in love with my boyfriend Dylan. He's 18 and I'm 16. My mom can even tell it. All of our friends are the same group of people and they ALL believe that we're a great couple. He works 40 hours a week so he can come see me and so we can do fun things on the weekend. I love everything about him. I love waking up beside him on Sunday mornings and realizing that I've been in his arms all night. He's the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing I think about at night. Before we were together he said that he never wanted to get married or have children. He said that he'd only have a steady girlfriend. Now he wants to get married and start a family as soon as I graduate from college in two years. I'm not too stoked about that but we've decided that if it happens...it was supposed to be. My mom is okay with it because she knows it's real love. <3 So, yes, I believe that you can be in love when you're 16.

I fully agree with you, It's extremely annoying when older people tell me that a can't possible be in love with my boyfriend cause I young ,and I don't know what love really is. I have been with this guy for about a year, I don't need anyone telling me what I feel.

There is a big difference between loving someone and being in love. Your young and he's your comfort zone so of course you have strong feeling for him, but one day you may see that your not in love and that's ok. The reason people say that you don't is bc they have been there!!!!! You live and you learn.

are the people telling you this OLDER by any chance?
if they say it, is because being in love at sixteen is like winning the freekin mega blaster lottery...

they are not telling you this to sabotage your relationship...they say it because 9 1/2 out of 10, it's true.

but, my advice to you is to enjoy your relationship with your bo...just don't get married or pregnant...prove to them that you are that lottery winner, but do it the right way...

One is usually sexually mature at 16, so one can be in love. It is a real biological condition. People who say otherwise are ill-informed.

Because they think at that age all your thinking about is sex,and that you confuse love with just wanting to have sex.
