In particular this applies to those who see fit to debate Creationism/Young Earth against modern science. Is it not only a man's interpretaion of the Bible they are pridefully defending? The few Bible verses they actually use on rare occaision to support their beliefs can easily be interpreted many ways. So is it God they worship most, or their ability to interpret scripture?
Do they not believe Proverbs 11:2 and 13:10 and 16:18?

Desparado, I have never heard of scientist who are not bible scholars who believe in a young earth, but would be interested in reading their point of view. Perhaps you could add some more to your answer and list a few of the more prominent ones.

Theophilus, I'd be interested in hearing what specific scripture led you to that point of view. And to all the others who automatically assumed I am defending evolutionism, was that only because I don't think it's right what the religion of Creationism is doing that is detrimental to Christianity?

And Theophilus, if Creationists did not take this debate into the realms where science belongs in, whether that be the science classes, internet fora, or any other place, it would not be debated at all.

The Book of Proverbs. It's great, isn't it?
The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.--Pr.30:17
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.--Pr.13:24
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.--Pr.19:18
I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh.--Pr.1:26
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.--Pr:22:15
Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats.--Pr.23:6
Let her breasts satisfy thee at all times.--Pr.5:19
The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.--Pr.20:30
YEAH. What a neat cult book. Inspired by a god? Puh-leez.

Maybe you could enlighten me, it seems like you are saying that anyone that knows the scripture is prideful.
Somehow that does not make sense to me, unless you are an atheist, and need anything that will discredit God.
Personally, I think the modern science folks that have no proof of their beliefs except for the discovery of what seems to be unnecessary body components, such as the human tailbone. Oh, yeah Charles Darwin saw a bear laying in the water and thought how he could have come from a whale.
I think the claims of the evolutionists are a larger leap of faith than the belief in a creator.
However, if it was not for people like you who wish to keep bringing this up as if it were your religion, it would never be discussed in this group.
In my life I have never seen anything evolve up, it always evolves down, plus there is no proof of any macro-evolution only micro-evolution. I think it is c**p to believe that billions of years could make macro-evolution happen. Have a nice day.

You cannot take one verse and use it to your interpretation. You need to read the whole thing. 11:2 thru 13
Proud men end in shame, but the meek become wise. A good man is guided by his honesty; the evil man is destroyed by his dishonesty. Your riches won't help you on Judgement day; only righteousness counts then. The upright are directed by their honesty; the wicked shall fall beneath their load of sins. The good man's goodness delivers him; the evil man's treachery is his undoing. When an evil man dies, his hopes all perish, for they are based upon this earthly life. God rescues good men from danger while letting the wicked fall into it. Evil words destroy. Godly skill rebuilds. The whole city celebrates a good man's sucess-and also the godless man's death. The good influence of godly citizens causes a city to prosper, but the moral decay of the wicked drives it downhill. (perhaps New Orleans? It's been talked about) To quarrel with a neighbor is foolish; a man with good sense holds his tounge. A gossip goes around spreading rumors, while a trustworthy man tries to quiet them.
Proverbs 13, you need to read it from 1 thru 24...I'm not typing the whole thing out. It doesn't say anything about proof of evolution though. You cannot pick one verse about pride and intepret it that way.
The same with Proverbs 16, read the whole chapter that one line does not prove we should believe lies either.
But for proof of God creating the earth, Genesis 1:1 thru 2
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was WITHOUT form and void., and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:26 thru 27
Then God said, "Let us make a man-someone like ourselves; to be the master of all life upon the earth and in the skies and in the seas. So God MADE man like his maker, Like God did God make man; Man and Maid did he make them.

Real wisdom can be found in proverbs3018-19, we don't know how to love a woman, so we should seek to learn how. but as to yours maybe some of us r lowly, and humble to God, where we worship God and interpret scripture, for only the Lord will open our eyes to the reading of the word.
