It is a fact that Officers always have to make the right call on many situations. True story.....
A recently hired Sheriff was so excited about finishing the academy and getting hired by a Department, he went out and partied a little too hard that weekend, getting a bit tipsy, then going home. Point of the story is, he got caught, he used the new position to try to get out of it. Next Monday morning he was asked to return the badges and basically told, "Thanks, but no thanks". Why would ANYONE want someone like THAT patrolling the streets? Clearly that guy didn't;t have the right judgment it takes to be on the job.

Officers trust each other with their life everyday. There is a special bond of the boys in blue....With that said, NO, I would NEVER LIE to protect another officer. Would I call his wife to come and get him from off the side of the road? You bet I would..But, If he was 10-50 with another car and there was alcohol involved, I would do my job and I would expect him to do the same for me or any other COP out on the streets.

Ever hear of the blue wall of silence, there is a reason, because it exist. Normally officers permit minor offenses to other officers to go unpunished, it's called officers discretion and is expected.
One has to be pretty naive to not think it happens. There is a web site called "Cops don't give cops tickets"

I would not lie, but I might avoid getting involved, while pressuring the friend to handle things his/herself and get things straight. If they had a chance and didn't do right, when questioned I'd have to tell the truth if I knew it.

The law is the law is the law. Shouldn't matter a lick WHO is breaking it.
I say if any officer would hold a civilian accountable, they darn well better hold themselves and eachother accountable. Period.
Otherwise they are disrespectful hypocrites. Disrespectful of the law, of civilians....disgusts me.
It is police hypocrisy like this that just makes me dislike them so much.
