If that is your baby in the avatar--he's adorable. And to answer your question. Mothers in every decade that I know of) have been asking this same question. What about mothers in Iraq? How are they feeling tonite? What about European mothers in the 2nd world war--how did their children survive? What about poor Appalatian mothers who live in shacks with dirt floors. Babies come into this world without getting a chance to decide what will be their surroundings or lifestyle.
You have been given the most precious gift of your life.
Love that baby and make life the best you can for him,
and other dhildren you may have. In America, we have it
better than most. Give it the best you've got, and the future
will take care of itself.

I was taught to treat others as I would like to be treated, be open to others beliefs, and respect my parents. I plan on teaching my 8 month old daughter the same things since I think I turned out pretty good. I think we need to concentrate on the positive things out there since it always seems that people cry a river about how bad things are...blah, blah, blah.....and dont do anything to help change things.
Volunteerism, appreciation for what we have, not giving a child EVERYTHING they want or feel they're entitled to, etc. will help in raising a productive citizen.
Having a worrisome or pessimistic attitude about the world in the near future can be understandable seeing its current state but it also is not giving our generation a fair shot at getting things back in order. Hopefully our generation will do all it can in the next few years to improve education in public schools, environmental policy, and international relations. I think the next step after that is properly educating our kids about those issues so they make it an even better world when they're adults.

I have that same fear at times, but not just with the things that you mentioned. I worry about how morals don't seem to be something that's being taught as much as it should. My husband and I are trying to raise our son (and plan on raising our daughter whose due within the next 8 wks) to not be so stuck on some of the "entertainment" that's on and that how the way they treat people says alot about who they are. As far as the carelessness goes, I blame the parents to a certain extent at times. For example, when it comes time to buy a teenager a vehicle, don't buy them something that speeds like crazy because most teenagers wont think about the consequences and in some of those situations the ending is fatal. I believe that it is possible to raise a person to be successful and humane at the same time, but it's a matter of how they are raised. I guess we'll just have to see in about 20 years how my kids turn out to know if I did a good job.

Just continue to educate them the best you can and make them able to take care of themselves. You can't do any better than that. Teach them the values that make a person successful no matter what problems they may encounter in the future. We can't really know what's ahead. Sometimes it looks bad, but at the same time I feel we live in the best and most prosperous time in world history.
Just make them resourceful so that they can handle anything.

God, if you live near Indiana, let's get together and talk. To think people are actually disgusted with this so called ideal world makes me feel that there is a chance for the next generation.

Yes I believe our children will have a world. It is gonna be up to them to love one another and help take care of the world like us. I think it is actually getting better. Verry slowly but it is.

Pray over your child daily and give all your fears and concerns to God. With God all things are possible, but you can't do it with without him. Good luck and God bless
