I am a born citizen of the USA, and I married an immigrant from Azerbaijan in October 2006. We married here in the US and he is still here now, but is out-of-status now. What papers do we need to file to get him work authorization and then permanent residency?

See an immigration lawyer to help you file the correct papers.
Good luck.

I hope you are a very strong person because you and your husband have now entered the gray area that gives the INS the power to make your life very very difficult and they will, the gray and doom area i speak of is the fact that he is out of status, that is the problem, I've been married almost 7 years and my wife lives in Mexico and i a American live in the USA, the INS feels its better to do this to make more room for the immigrant workers here to pick fit and stuff, so family unity is no more than a sales pitch for election time votes, so if you want to get past this you really need -- a big pile of money to pay an attorney, good luck.

The way he got you dressed I think you'll never succeed
Having said that you're an American & now he likes America
Don't you wanna teach him our culture
I learnd it when I cam here from the middle east & Love the USA & love every thing it stand for
Now here is what he needs to do
1: go to the immigration Dept (find it on Google in your area )
2: apply for him
3:present your marriage certificate to them
they will help you
4: You should know it's difficult How did he get here ????
is he on a visiting visa ???you'll be asked all those questions
lots of immigrants & my nephew was one of them came here on student visas from Jordan & paid $2000 to some fluzy who married them & got them the visa & America finally woke up & clamped down on this Avenue
5: there are foreign attorneys who can do the paper work for you(immigration attorneys)burt you can do all this your self

Apply for refuge, exile or asylum if your country is being invaded by our troops.
