It depends on what you're cooking. If it's a dessert or bread, you should stick to the recipe. If it's anything else, it should be fine. As you know, vegetable oil is better for you than butter. And, olive oil is even better for you. Of course, butter usually tastes better. Have fun!

Yes, you can, but the texture may change and don't forget the increased cholesterol of butter. If it's a cake or pastry the recipe may be an improvement, in the taste, with butter. Oil can be substituted.

i think it depends on what you are making. I know you can use applesause as a subsitute for oil if you are making muffins/cakes.
