Look people, we can argue in circles, and keep asking the same questions with regards to scripture, and origins, and all that good stuff, but ultimately none of those questions matter. Realize what Jesus meant when he said that we must become like little children...

Where did God come from; what does this verse say and why does it say this and that and blah blah, ....

God really has made it clear and simple that all he wants is for us to trust him, and obey him. Too many people are staring directly into the sun trying to find an explanation, (or an alternative,) and it is resulting in their going blind. You can ask any question, or pose any theory, but the fact is that God is who he is and he never changes.

I wish that everyone could have there hearts softened, and make the decision to allow God to work in their lives as he has done for all his followers. I serve a living God, and while I can't prove it to you by science, I can tell you that he has already proven it to me.

Oh my goodness, there is a difference between a legitimate question and a pointless one.

"Why would Jesus have said..." - legitimate question.

"Where did God come from" - totally irrelevant and unanswerable. Pointless to even ask.

DO YOU STILL NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM SAYING?!?!?

These circular arguments do get old. We believe as we do, others believe as they do, and sometimes it seems as though no one can see the common ground we all stand on. I seriously doubt whether anyone has ever won a convert on R&S. From that standpoint, it is a waste of time. I agree with you: I wish I could make other people see what I have seen. But I suspect others are saying the same thing about me.

It isn't arguing in circles, because you are simply dismissing questions that you can't answer, the big one being "Where did god come from?"

And these questions matter because it is science that has brought us uncountable benefits (and perils, too), because science and reason WORK. To close yourself to new ideas is to be willfully stupid and an impediment to progress, and quite often an aggressive and murderous one at that - science doesn't have wars between different factions the way religion does, because there is only one reality.

And it is scientists who have humility, always willing to change their views if the evidence demands it; that's how it progresses over the years, something which religion doesn't do unless forced to when enough people get fed up with its BS.

And stop insulting unbelievers by calling them "hard-hearted" - this is juvenile slander calculated to make yourself feel superior to us infidels; it's one of many reasons why we distrust religion to lead anyone in the right direction of harmony, truth and peace.

How long must we have the same, pointless discussions?

We can stop them right now. I've thinking about what an inane pointless thing this whole Yahoo! Answers is. I've let it suck up too much time. What's the point? There are simply two kinds of questions: one's that can be answered just by doing the googling that the asker was to lazy to do in the first place and the other are just matters of opinion.

Whoever wants my points can have them.

Good night.

You have some very good points and I agree with nearly all of what you said, because you are right in the fact that we serve a living, loving God and I know He exists through faith, not scientific evidence. Faith and scientific evidence are on the opposite ends of the spectrum.

However, I feel that there are times that I want to hear from others on this forum about a question or a concept that I want to learn more about. For that reason, I'm very glad that we have this forum as I can get a broad spectrum of viewpoints.

You are trying to make a point with the type of certainty that you have first hand knowledge. As you just said... let's not keep talking about this in circles. Either put up or shut up. You don't know about this with any degree of certainty unless you have first hand knowledge. If you have first hand knowledge that is really wonderful so show us don't tell us. This may be frustrating for you because, well, because you are not being honest your remarks and you know it. You are lying and we all know it because over all the years of mankind there is not one physical shred of proof that God exists.

And why didn't Jesus tell people the world was round, and on and on . .
Yes, I agree with you. People who are always questioning insignificant points, will never move on. How can you absorb anything, if you are always arguing over mindless drivel.

I think most would regard this diatribe as pointless.

Your witnessing is not enough for someone who bases their beliefs on evidence.

My heart couldn't be any softer. I don't think that's the issue. In fact, I'd say its TOO soft for Christianity. I love people too much worship a God who's going to send most of them to Hell.

Maybe its YOUR heart that is too hard.

for as long as we have the some pointless, mindless, cult-believers trying to control and negatively affect the lives of other people, we'll have the same pointless discussions

the only thing that's worse is someone who pretends to know god, what god wants of everyone, and thinks he has all the answers.

oh. uh-oh!!
