My class has recently read the play Othello. I need info on websites that may show me if a black man could have actually have such a high position as Othello in the 1600's

Skin's color is countless in the Italian military carrier.
We're not a racist Country and eveybody, independently if it's white or black, yellow or red, has the same opportunity to advance. I've no links to any website supporting my saying but it's our Constitution which states that every man has the same rights.

Hi, I don't know of any web-site but yes it's possible. If you look at Italian art from hundreds of years ago you will see that a lot of historical figures that were African (and hence black) were painted as white. Don't ask me why. Maybe due to racism.

Read Caesar's "The Gaulic Wars". 1st century B.C. the Roman army used and thought highly of it's Nubian archers. Those were African men highly skilled in the use of a bow.

When the Moors went to Southern Europe and ruled for a while, yes, they would have had black men in power.

It was possible... as long as you know and understand military warfare, you can move up in the ranks.
