3000mg,WOW!!,I'm on 2000mg anyway i had surgery.the doc removed part of my brain the size of 3 golfballs, part of my right temporal lobe.Doc told me only 2%chance of stroke.guess what i had.BUT no sezs since.I was real bad before surgery all types of sezs and migraines almost daily. And like you I have a kid that age.I did it so I could be here for her.One of the cons too is depression.but it can get better.so talk to your family about it all.I would be glad to help you and share stories with you anytime.Feel free to IM me.I am now a stay at home dad recovering, getting better each day and with each new friend to talk to.It helps because that area of the brain they removed also is close to your emotions,Later HOPE I can help.also try this website for more info www.epilepsyfoundation.org i'll help you anyway i can

I don't really know much, but I thought I would try to give some reassurance. I can definitely understand being scared about surgery. If the doctors know where the epicenter is that is causing your seizures I would guess there is a good chance that the treatment will work. I have observed a number of brain surgeries for removal of tumors, and other issues.

I wish you luck in making the right decision. Whatever you choose, I wish you well and hope you find a treatment that allows you to live a quality life that is seizure free.

I personally know one gal who had the surgery and has done so well she has gone back to work, leading a normal life and her seizures were so bad she seizured and fell in an open, turned-on oven. On the other hand, I know a guy who had the surgery and he ended up with a stroke during surgery, blind and still has seizures and is completely disabled. Get to know your doc and check with other patients he has done this particular surgery on for outcomes percentage of failure versus cure ratio.

You may want to email the user: "Bernie M". He answered one of my questions. Click my profile, then my most recent post, and you'll find him. He has had the surgery!! I have spoke to him off-line, as well. Full of knowledge. Very helpful. Very kind.
