I think you need some sensible advice here!
I got lots of good travel ideas from the website www.secret-scotland.com. You can either have information for different locations or you can buy a choice of detailed travel guides which suggest itineraries for routes around the country.
I went for the Iconic Scotland 10 day tour, but they have tours lasting from 4 to 14 days. They are like Lonely Planet travel guides, but with much more detail, with routes and recommendations for the best places to visit, stay, eat. You need to hire a car and book the accommodation directly, but this keeps it cheap and all the places that we stayed were really good recommendations.
