I wouldn't reject him if I believed it was real. That would be rather stupid, don 't you think? But if I don't believe it, I don't believe it. You can't use your belief to prove that your belief is true. I can't prove that my disbelief is the correct attitude either. We're each just left to our unprovable beliefs. What do I personally believe? Well, I'm not sure about any kind of next life, so I'll try to live a good one here. I believe, - no, make that "know", that there is no hell awaiting me after this life is over. I have more realistic and fruitful concerns than to worry about.

I'll give Jesus the respect that he deserves as a historic figure and a great man, but I do not believe that he was the son of god or that he was killed for anything other than believing in something different from the Romans.

You're belief is what you choose. It doesn't make it true, but that's OK, you can still believe it. It's just not something that I believe. I enjoy fiction books, but the bible was just too inconsistent to be even a little entertaining. What do you expect on a book made up by different men in different times. Each puts their own spin on things, just like politicians today do.

My God gives His life for me every year at the harvest -- that ALL might live, not just the ones who happen to follow a certain religion.
Let's see, that's... roughly 1,974 deaths/rebirths to Jesus' one, assuming for the moment that Jesus was an actual historical entity.
I'll stick with my own Gods, thank you.

Cuz I had a buddy in the Army who fell on a grenade and gave his life for his squad mates. To me, that's a h e l l of a lot more real and meaningful than some mythology about sin and souls and eternal salvation!

I have no reason to believe his divinity. I doubt he was anything more than a human. He may have been a good teacher, but he was still just human.
BTW, give the guy above me the 10 pts. I've read stories like that and they are truly awe-inspiring.

Jesus did not "give" his life. He begged his God not to make him die 4 separate times in the Garden of Gethsemane.

I need more than the words of Matt, Mark, Luke, and John.
Especially since they didn't write their own gospels...and Mark and Luke weren't even apostles.
What is your excuse to accept rumor as truth?

My mom and dad gave me life. Jesus had nothing to do with it.
