Over spring break i stayed in a hotel all week and I cant help but notice that regardless of the quality of the hotel, the beds are always so soft. Is it just the mattresses they use or what?? and how can i make my bed that comfortable?

1. The hotel staff will turn the mattress over and rotate the head and foot ends every three months, this reduces sagging and compacting of the cushioning material.
In a high quality mattress you will find a label in
two corners on each side that say "jan, feb, mar" "apr, may, jun," and so on, which tells you when and how to rotate the mattress. (just like car tires)

2. Hotels use what is called a "mattress pad" which is an extra quilted cushioning pad that is placed on the mattress before the sheets; like placing a giant pillow on top of your mattress.
you can buy them at

3. most important is that hotel buy the very best mattresses on the market, a happy guest is a returning guest. and it's all about getting the guest to come back to OUR hotel every time.

If it's a decent hotel - it's just a very well made expensive mattress. They buy top of the line as they are mainly providing a bed (that's their job) and better quality goods last. That and hotels buy in bulk so the price isn't so bad for them. Quality shows in almost anything one buys.

yea its the quality of the beds at the hotels..and also after partying on spring break..your body is very tired..so whenever you lie down on a bed..it will always feel good..you should try pulling away the sheets to see what brand the mattress is..maybe consider getting your own soft bed yourself...also adding foam or memory foam under the sheets will make it very very soft....thats what I did to a cheap 100 dollar twin size bed..and it does wonders to it..made it very soft...sometimes its not the mattress but the sheets or foam you put on it..good luck with your soft beds

soft may not always be the best !
long term
Space age mattress seems to be the way to go.
But expensive.
I am just thinking of going the same way.
A single foam, to try it ! Matress topper
Hope you find what you are looking for.
It wont be a high quality mattress in a hotel, unless its the same quality as the Ritz.

It's what the bed bugs do to the inside of the mattresses that break down the texture that cause them to feel comfortable

Polyurethane foam . . but it rapidly degrades, resulting in body depressions.
