Ok, this whole recall thing is getting worse and worse. It was bad enough when people's beloved pets were getting ill and dieing. It got ten times worse when I found out Menu Foods knew about this since December. I felt sick to my stomach when I read that the company started testing the tainted food on healthy cats and dogs, killing 6 out of every 10. Now it's coming out that rat poison may be in the food!

Something is seriously wrong here. Is it just me or did Menu Foods intentionally lie to everyone that the problem was wheat gluten when they knew in the first place it was rat poison? Anybody else have the feeling the whole wheat gluten story was just a lie and maybe Menu Foods never intended to admit it was rat poison? When the government stepped in and conducted its own testing did that "force" the truth out of this horrible company?

Something is really strange--first our food was "tainted" ex. spinach, lettece, and then peanut butter. This is too many things in the short time span to be a coincidence. I really don't think Menu Food's was intentially trying to poison our food, I sure hope not atleast. This is a financial crush to them. But, I do lean on the idea this was no accident. The wheat initially came from China, by no means are they a friend to the U.S. so my eyes are on them. We live in a scary time when we can't feed our kids peanut butter, our animals food, or treat ourselves to a nice salad. What's next?

I can never trust Menufoods at all anymore, nor any petfood made by them. That's why I have switched to Nature's Balance by Dick Van Patten.

It does seem very very strange why Menufoods was not able to isolate the "rat poison" with all the battery of tests they said they were conducting. Instead, it was an outside (university) laboratory which tested samples of Menufoods that was able to isolate the rat poison. Now, Meufoods is saying, "... we don't know how it got there..."

That's a heck of a lot of rat poison to contaminate 60 MILLION cans and pouchs of petfood!!!

Has someone done the math?

It wasn't a PETA plant, everyone. Sorry. My husband is a supplier for Iams, and my cousin works with Nutro. The wheat gluten, like almost everything else that goes in the dog food, originates from China. Once in the States, it is mixed into the food (and sometimes it is cleaned and reprocessed in the States, if China didn't do a good enough job). Aminopterin was most likely used on the crops in China, and then the wheat wasn't cleaned properly. And it would be the FDA, not the FBI, who would investigate. Luckily, my husband's company doesn't do wheat gluten because its an allergin; but other suppliers will be investigated once investigators know for sure what they're looking for.

I asked the vet if they could tell it was the food that made my cat sick and they said no, and told me about the wheat gluten. What better way for the company to make sure all evidence was destroyed.
My beloved pet was put to sleep on Tuesday of this week while my daughter and I cried our eyes out. Our Fat (18 lbs) Cat with an Attitude was only 5 lbs. and so sick he would just cry. I am so angry that the "TREAT" we gave him killed him.

in the yahoo news it said that the wheat gluten may have been contaminated with aminopterin and when they made the dog and cat food it was in toxic levels and thats what killed the animals. it will suppress the immune system and malignant cells. it is used as a cancer drug. the people are under crimmal investigation and they are wondering why they did not use traps instead of the spray.

It's amazing all the stories that are told and then what the truth actually comes out to be in the end. Makes one wonder why words like honesty & integrity exist. Disasters like this can sure put a damper on one's faith in our American industry.

Yea..there were some major coverups there. Thank goodness the media exploited the heck out of this cuz otherwise I'd hate to see how many more innocent animals would have died.
