Matthew 19:8 "Moses permitted divorce only as a concession of your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended.....whosoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, unless his wife has been unfaithful." There is a condition for divorce - unfaithfulness. What Jesus was referring to was in the old time days men took advantage of their spouses and used the law as a crutch and a loop hole, by divorcing their wives for any and everything. If she burnt the food, did not clean properly, if her hair was showing in an unmannerly fashion and whatever they wished. So Jesus was saying to them...Moses permitted you to divorce, because of you wayward hearts, but it was not supposed to be like that....but if the wife or husband was unfaithful to you. And unfaithfulness does not only mean sex but physical, emotional and mental abuse. If the partner is impossible to live with.

Silly, don't you realize that THEY are the exception to the rule?
Seriously, although I doubt there are more divorced Christians getting remarried than non-Christians, there are more than Jesus allowed. Surely not every previous divorce was either because of adultery, or because an unbelieving spouse left.
People (including Christians) can justify anything in their minds if they try hard enough. Further, I wouldn't expect that the passages you listed are often taught in the "fluffy, feel-good" theology that is preached in many churches today.
This shouldn't surprise us, either. Paul told Timothy, "For the time will come when people will not put up with healthy doctrine but with itching ears will surround themselves with teachers who cater to their own needs. They will refuse to listen to the truth and will turn to myths." (II Timothy 4:3-4)

There are saints and sinners among Christians. If someone is committing the mortal sin of adultery then obviously it's because they are NOT being a true Christian.
Yes, it is shameful that there are so many lukewarm Christians. Jesus clearly condemns those who are lukewarm in the faith.
But having said that, I too have had periods of lukewarmness in my past. But, if anyone sincerely repents and turns away from their sins, as I did more than once, then they can be forgiven by God. Why does it make some angry that in Christianity God forgives us when we repent of our sins?

In the Bible it also states that Jesus died on the cross so that we may be forgiven for all our sins.
I believe it is wrong in more ways than one to cheat. But I also believe that the only reason Christian stats are higher is because Christians are the only ones that feel enough moral guilt to admit it.

Where did you get the statistics ? Do more Christians than Jews or Hindus commit adultery ?
You're probably right so far as Muslims are concerned, because of the harsh punishment. You can't compare desire and punishment.

All people can fall from grace, unfortunately even christians. They fall in to sin and slowly become immoral (thoughts, actions, beliefs, etc) meanwhile thinking they are good moral christians. When they realize their sins, they start to rationalize it and slowly accept it as, well I guess I am only human. Then they start trying to find scripture to justify their sin, and when they do not, they manipulate their beliefs and say it's just the way i see things.

Yeah that never made sense to me why Christians aren't supposed to divorce.
While in Islam people actually were always able to divorce if they couldnt get along.

Dude.. you cant make such a bold statement as there is more adultery commited by christians than by any other sub group... I suggest you find the statistic in question you are referring to and list that as a source for your statement.

Statistically, yes.
There is adultery for a Christian. They admit it.
An Atheist is not committing adultery because they do not admit it.
The odds are lower for the Atheist. Probably zero. Get my point?
There is more divorces among Christians because there are more Christians than not.
All statistically based.
There is Biblical cause for divorce.
And we are forgiven.
