A diagnosis of ADHD requires that the symptoms were present before the age of 7, but that doesn't mean that they had to have been diagnosed or treated at that age. Although they would have had the disorder since childhood, people can still be diagnosed later on if it was missed when they were younger.

Yes you can be diagnosed with ADHD later in life. I was 42. Had been to numerous therapists, doctors, clinics etc since age 13, but never really any answers other than depression. I am a woman, and when I was a kid, girls didnt have ADD it was something little boys had, that they out grew. That was the thinking then. There are different kinds of ADD. hyper, inattentive, mixed. Dont let anyone tell you there is no such thing, that it is a self control thing, or that its just an excuse. I spent 40 yrs of my life wondering why I was different, not good enough, etcetc. I was diagnosed after my son was born. It was the happiest day of my life. Im not stupid, lazy, crazy, or weak willed. I have a physiological problem that can be treated with medication. So, yes you can.

ADHD is a made up name for creating a cause to sell drugs that slow you down so you will pay attention.. kiddo it is all in your head.. there is no pill that will make you happy.. if you want to take a pill so you can go around bragging about it by saying I am on medication then go for it.. all you have to do is jump around a little bit and not pay attention to something you are bored with.. and people will think you need medication.. wow.. what a wonderful way to start your day... Why don't you find the root cause of your inability to pay attention.. and then fix it... ADHD is a convenient excuse..I don't care how old your are..
