ok, about myself about sun exposure.. I rarely go in the sun, im either working or school and this summer I decided to get a tan, which is a first for me in a sense, cause I go out, but I rarely go out to get a tan is what I mean.. so instead of going out in the sun I decided to give indoor tanning a try, so far ive gone 6 times, starting at 8 mins and moving up each time 2 mins and have stayed at 15mins on a regular bed.

I understand there are dangers from UVA/UVB rays and instead of getting bashed here about cancer and leather skin, this is my question ..

Are the chances high that I will get any of the negative effects from it or worse from going a handfull times this summer and get a nice tan this summer and then just STOP and not continue.

I come on here and search and then get very scared from a lot of the repies and I am not saying they are wrong at all but what im asking here (above) are the chances very high, high, mild or what.

I

I go 3-4 times a week tanning at 15mins now, and have been tanning pretty good, my face is tanning a little slow but the rest has tanned pretty dark. my skin is fair/pale with black hair and have not been burned using them.

so I guess even with minimal exposure, even up to 3 months of use and the times I listed my chances are pretty high then.

If I know now what I knew then, I would never have indulge myself to sun tanning. It might not show up when you're young. But now in my later years, I have a lot of sun damage. They are not age spots, mind you. I'm considering laser tx. My husband also had skin cancers or melanoma.

I strongly dissuade you from suntanning whether by direct sun exposure or the use of tanning beds. My daughter has a tanning bed she uses for her Psoriasis. Both have a tendency to dry up yur skin very bad and cause wrinkles; make sit leathery or the dreaded sun spots.

If you want to correct your paleness (pallid in medical term), there is a new product now called bronzing powder for the face . It gives it a healthy glow. And for the rest of your body, you could use this tanning spray. It's temporary, and safe and has no deleterious side effects. So pls heed my advice; so you won't regret later on.

Also, drink a lot of fluids, esp water and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.

You get UV damage from just walking around outside on a cloudy day, always use a moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher, especially if you are fair complected. I've used the sunless tanning creams with good results, less exposure to the UVs. It's up to you to decide about your exposure, fair complexions are harder to tan (as mine is).
