I have a white boxer thats almost 2 years old, and her name is Gracie. I have a weenie dog thats about 6 years old and her name is Tootie. And I have a 9 weeks mix terrier named Mollie, that I just adopted. Gracie is very playful, and the puppy seems shy but she does want to play. Tootie doesnt like the play, she is too prissy lol. Anyway, So far, it seems Gracie accepts Mollie, and little by little they will play tug o war with a stuff animal. I also share a yard with a neighbor, and her dogs play with Gracie....it seems like Mollie wants to jump in on it but is unsure to do so....I guess I am being impatient for Gracie and Mollie to play together. Not to mention they have no problem with sleeping next to each other, but Tootie doesnt like neither of them lol...Im just wondering though, is there a simple way to get them to play more? I just want Mollie to feel more at home and know that she is accepted.

From my experience, female dogs don't get along as well, and dogs of the opposite sex seem to be very friendl, but competitive with one another. The only time i ever see female dogs play together is when they both tug on a rope. I hope this helps.

Honestly its very common for the bully breed to want to play and the smaller one to not want to as mush. Generally its from the size and energy difference from the bully breed to the smaller breed. Whenever I bring in a new rescue, it always just takes them a little while (a few days, sometimes never!) to get used to things. A nice extra long, controlled not where the dog runs around and goes crazy, walk usually helps the dog acclamate to the environment and stablize a little, only then will they want to play.

I guess dogs like human have their own character. Also different breed have their own distinct characteristics. For example JRT is more active by nature and shih tzu will be less active. I think just as long as they can get along and dont fight with each other, that should be fine. Give them some time and they will know they are one family... :)
