My family's cats all have goddess names (it's coincidence that they're all female-they chose us, not the other way around). We figured no other kind of name could give better tribute to their unique "owners of the universe" cat personalities! *lol*
My cat is named Shakti, for a Hindu goddess of creation and destruction. It means "Cosmic energy"-she was a little ball of action when she was a kitten, but with age she's gotten lazier. It's HER name-she's responded to it (when she chooses to!) from day 1.
My brother's cat is named Astarte, for a Sumerian goddess of creation and destruction. Astarte is a clown, though, not at all like her namesake, and she loves attention and being played with.
My mother's cat is named Bastet, for the Egyptian cat goddess. She is the eldest in the house, and she does have a goddess's behavior; she's so dignified and serious.
And the little one, who basically belongs to everyone, she's so friendly, is Oonah, the fairy kitty, named after the goddess of fairies. She's very small even though she's 5 years old, white with gray & black-striped patches, and has a very high-pitched meow. She's almost too cute, and she thinks she's a dog-I've never seen a cat who loved being petted so much. She'll actually butt your hand with her head when she wants attention!
So there's an idea for you. You can Google "Goddess names" or "god names" and see what comes up. You'll get a few unusual ones for sure, especially if they're from ancient cultures. You can also check out star and constellation names, such as Oberon, Altair, Galatea, Aldebaran, etc.; those are pretty unusual, too. :) Good luck!

Jellybean. I read in Chicken Soup 4 the Catluvers soul, that every cat named jellybean at this 1 shelter got adopted asap and the new owners liked the name so much, that they kept the name because it was more unusual then "tiger" or Kitty. If thats to plain, name him/her puppy or birdy. thats unusual.

Cats respond to high pitched sounds. A name like KiKi (Kee Kee) is a good example. When you talk to the cat, say things like "Momeeee or Dadeee" loves my "babeee" and You are a good kiteeee" If you are in Key West, take in the show the "cat man" puts on with his trained cats. He speaks to them using a high pitched voice. You may want to choose a name that matches your cat's purr-sonality. Good Luck
