Hi there. They will eventually bond with each other. You are their flock leader so they depend on you for many behaviours, new foods, how to bathe, even how to play. Rotate the toys, act really animated and talk to them like they are babies or small children. Given them warm bathes in a sink with 2 inches of water, flick your fingers in the water and make happy noises, laugh and jump around. They will copy you. One probably started yawning and the behaviour is being ping ponged back and forth. Give them a good pellet diet, limit seeds to 10%, fruits and veggies 10-20%. No chocolate, no avocado, or caffeine, or alcohol(you probably know that one.. I just had to throw it in) Try not to breed them if they are siblings. (Bad Ju-Ju). Getting really excited and animated will really get them interested in play, learning, even trying new foods. Try new things in front of them ( pretend or eat the food and say it is sooo delicious! These birds are not stupid. And yes they may be bored. Give them 10 days to 2 weeks to get used to their new home. Things will get better soon. Have a great year.

"Yawning" in birds is an affectionate gesture; birds do this before they regurgitate to feed a loved one. I don't know whether these babies can actually feed each other, but they may as they get older.
Birds, at least parrot-type birds such as parakeets, imitate birds (and people) that they like a lot. This is even why parakeets learn to say words; they like people, so they imitate people sounds.

I had parakeets before, too. They are so cute! I think they "yawn" either because they are sleepy, or because they need to stretch their beaks. And as for the copying, most animals learn by mimicking. They have their own secret language going on complete with gestures and chirping!

the birds are not actually "yawning" when they do that, it means they dont have enough oxygen and are trying to get air, so thats probably why they dont want to play, i've had about 8 parakeets so trust me, they should get more air. clip their wings, take them outside (dont let them lose) and give them some fresh air to breathe i did it all the time

also, if you notice a lot of shaking of the head or sneezing to go along with the yawning, it may be time to take them to a vet. this can indicate an upper respiratory infection.
