In this battle of anti/pro I have never wavered. MY heart and soul was for those who have made THIS US a better place and have done so largely unnoticed. When I became vocal I didn't just do it online. I contacted all locals who may have a say as well. That went fine until last week.
A very prominent group leader attacked me for being "too white" and "too visible". He said that "No good immigrant needs ME behind him".
I have some thoughts on that.......well alot actually BUT .........I'd like to hear yours first.

It’s not as simple as who is more right. He betrays the true spirit of his cause in his words. He is telling you exactly how he feels. It’s kind of like trying to get at the heart of an issue like amnesty. To understand the dislike you need to know what the word means. Amnesty is a pardon, an admission of guilt in exchange for forgiveness. When you hear people angry over allowing Amnesty what they are saying is “I do not forgive you”. The granting of amnesty is perceived as an injustice, undeserved and inappropriate. The typical response you get from pro-amnesty supporters is “you are racist.”

What Mr. Too White did to you was essentially the same thing. You might agree with him but you are just as inappropriate, undeserving and unjust in your stand, after all you couldn’t possibly understand. You have no right, it’s that simple. So is it race or values?

On the other hand, you know if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck and looks like a duck……its probably a duck. Give him the adios.......

Okay,
there is nothing wrong with expressing your ideas on a subject....such as another race. In fact it is one of our rights as american citizens. My thoughts are, as long as Mexicans, Irish, Koreans, or whoever want to come, do it, but they need to do so legally. If they are illegal, they have no right to be here, and they have no rights as americans do. I'm not racist, but if a person comes to the U.S. and they complain that we aren't friendly and we don't give them good jobs, we have the right to take that person out of the States.

A Mexican is a Mexican, A Canadian is a Canadian, and an American is an American. If someone in your community is a proud i.e. Mexican, they have the right to go back to Mexico. In the U.S. we are Americans. All of us, not just the white people or whatever.

Now as far as a legal immigrant, you have no right to slander a race of people or a person. Think if that was YOU. Doesn't the Statue of Liberty say " Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door.
Don't slander someone for trying to make thier lives better. If you are a vet, then you should know all about the freedoms you were protecting. Everyone has their freedoms, but no one has the right to take those away from another person. As the three unalienable rights are stated in the Constitution "Life, Liberty, The Pursuit of Happiness" have you been giving those people those rights? Probably the 1st two, but the last one???

I probably misunderstood your whole question, but those are my thoughts on the whole Immigration subject, good luck with your public speaking. :-)

Maybe thats why so many are against immigration. You should think, is this your fight. Stick around here for a while and you could see the darker side of immigration. This mans sentiment is not an isolated one. I know you feel strongly, but there are other good fights that you could enter. Ones that you are more appreciated. My suggestion is that you should fight for your belief by encouraging the good ones. I have become far more anti-immigration since I started watching the Y!A immigration section. People like the"leader" you mention do more damage than good. All the illegal immigrants here lobbing insults has made me want them to leave. If you could get more "good " immigrants to speak out and say these guys don't represent us, you could turn things around. I also want to mention that some of the leaders has hidden motives. The immigration protest is being held on May 1st, May Day. This is a day traditional used to show hatred of AMerica. The Black Panther, Communist and Anarchist has all used this day to support the overthrow of the US government. I doubt the body of the illegal immigrant knows this, but I'm sure some of the leaders do. I haven't made up my mind yet, though I'm siding with the Anti's because I'm pissed, but I do admire people of true conviction on either side of the table. I like to state that Racism comes in all color. Racism is formed from hate. The leader sounds like he is in the fight because he desire Power. He seems also angry at racism towards him and use it as an excuse to retaliate in kind. I do not know for sure, but thats my feeling.

It has taken me many years to:
1) learn to pick the fights I can win,
2) once, having selected the battle, give the effort my total heart and soul (it sounds as though this you're doing),
3) remember, you are in America now, and there isn't any one person prominent enough who can muster a strangle hold on the truth - opinions, maybe - the truth, no,
4) follow your heart.

If this "prominence" continues to bad-mouth, defame or libel you, sue the sucker. If you can't afford it, personally, try getting help from a local Legal Aid Society which has attorneys on call doing pro-bono work.

If it was me, I'd sign you up in a heartbeat. And, I'm a combat vet, too.

What local leader for immigrants would say that? I am sick of racial division for a cause. I support the idea of not giving any illegal alien amnesty. I do not agree with it personally! But, some of the groups springing up in my state, take it to a ill level and strayed away from the main point( they are illegal)... not because they have a better tan..

It is sad to see that immigration support for or against is going in different directions then what was first intended. Come here legal, or no USA for you..(my side)
Your side, they are humans and are looking for a better life(pros).

Now, if you can not support locally because you are brighter then some, then there is something wrong with leaders of those organizations that need support on both sides, but omit based on race.. Sad days ahead for both sides, if those are the leaders of our ideologies on immigration.. for both pro and antis.

I have been saying for years that we need to do a Constitutional amendment. We the People need to demand that a amendment to the Constitution states that if your here illegal, You or a born child on our soil can not become a citizen, you can receive no health care, medical supplies, welfare, or any other item that comes free to U.S. citizens, as well as stating that Illegals have no rights under the Constitution as to legal counsel, trail to stay here, or anything that can delay them in our country, just that they will be deported ASAP, to the farthest point in their own country, also in this amendment it will punish employers for hireling with harsh fines, putting owners and CEOs in jail for years requiring them to pay the lost taxes on illegals, lost SS, lost medical collected, lost school fees for teachers, etc., just keep piling on the fees and punishment.
If there are no jobs why would an illegal come here? If there are no jobs, free things for them to steal, no gift citizenship, no schools, no medical then they would go home.
We let in some 1 million legal aliens a year that take years to apply and come, why should We the People just give criminals (illegals) citizenship or any other thing we paid for all our life?
www.senate.gov/general/contact...
www.house.gov/writerep/
Here the sites you need as We the People to contact your Congressman and demand that this type law is done now, not years from now. Threaten to get this out in your area, to vote them out, etc…

i gonna tell u something , many of the people which had made themselves leaders are nothing but pigs , they were chosen by nobody and yet say to represent those which have to fallow them because sometimes they are the only voice they have . those kind of "leaders" are abusive and full of prejudice , they fallow their own agendas and care little about the people which they say to represent and need them , they feed of ignorance and of the need of others which have no rights today . to that kind of leaders i say do not fallow .

however it doesn't mean u should forget about the need of those which need ur help or about what they really are or aren't for your country and for ur life . many as u know work in the places which just a few want , yes some American do also work in those places but we all know that most would not not matter what the anti-immigrants say . i mean 40 years ago the only ones which were working picking up tomatoes and were making many of the kind of jobs the immigrants do today were African Americans which had not fought for their right yet but chose to look for better jobs once the come back from WWII . will they comback to those places ??? the answer is not ..

that kind of leaders which u talk about today do not really represent the immigrants which only desire is a better life , not by stealing but by working and earning a place in America just like the many before them which did it succesfully .. u should also remember how is it that this kidn of leaders had been bettwen us before , they were people like Malcolm x which were full of hate but at the end did not prevail , so not only hopefully but surely the same will happen to those which promote hate and ignorace today .... just wait and ull see ....

That's the way it done in a lot of 3rd World countries. When I lived in the Philippines for six years we called it "the big man syndrome."

That "group leader" hasn't learned a thing about the United States.

I guess he's given you a choice...Shut-up, and do and say what he and others like him tell you to do and say, or face his tyrannical, racist wrath. The ball's in your court.

sounds like a dumbass, lots of immigrants are happy to have your support and they should be. There is no such thing as too white, and regardless of race, you know what is right! Dont let one idiot waver your stance on this very important topic. My friend just lost her chance to bring her fiance to the US and will have to figure out what to do for the next 10 years. They have a 2 year old together and our government has denied him passage. He does not have a house there, and she does not have a job there. This happens all too often and these people need our support to make our government understand how important these people are to the US!

Very funny, whites are not allowed in your Laraza group ! And if your heart was for the people who made the USA better you would be rallying for the veterans and American tax payers, not illegals!
