I have heard some say that they have called out to God at such times, and promised Him that they would live their lives for Him, if they answered their prayer. I am pleased that some have found God this way, but it's even better to find God because you realise your need of Him, rather than wait for a crisis to occur!
It proves that most people are God conscious - and people prove Him to be true when they call out to Him.

When a person is in emotional turmoil, the limited human rationality that a person relies upon for everyday life no longer makes any objective sense. The veil over the person's minds becomes partially lifted.
It is at these trying moments that a person's mind becomes open to hearing the Holy Spirit's counsel that the revelation of God written into everyone's heart is real.

Yes, most people know God exists. They just refuse to believe...and yes, many people find God thru trials, like many soldiers in Iraq find God in the midst of all the fighting...

There is a pastor in Ca. that used to pray against earthquakes,but over time noticed there were more people in church after earthquakes.So he doesn't pray against them anymore. Oh I love Nicole's answer but do not know how to vote or am not set up for it. How do I vote? nothing happens when I try. Computer dummy!!

Funny how when their problems have worked themselves out or they find themselves still alive, most people forget what they promised they would do if God somehow spared their life, the life of their loved one or helped them out of their situation.

Some people think they are to good for god .. so they deicde to be their own master and when they realize how many faults follow them everywhere they turn to God who is always willing to help ... in the Quran it says tht if you remeber god , god will remember you ....

Because when they're happy they don't need God. If a tragedy strikes them, then they need help. All people are like that, we only think of God when we need him.
