I went to the doctor today in order to get immunized for a trip to India next month. Out of the 6 shots that I've received over the past 2 weeks, none of them caused more than mild soreness.

Today, however, I got a Tetanus booster. The shot itself wasn't painful (none of them really are), but as the day has gone on, my right arm feels like it got run over by a truck! Why do Tetanus shots hurt more than other shots?

Because the shot was given intramuscular. It's likely that the vaccine is still at your arm muscle. To provide relief you might want to apply warm compress to relax the blood vessel and improve absorption.

I had a tetanus shot like 7 weeks ago and my arm has been sore for about a week. I don't think that is normal.

They probably stuck the needle a muscle. Any shot will do that, not just a tetanus shot. Some shots are required to be injected in the muscle, and some (like insulin shots) are only required to be injected under the skin. The ones under the skin don't hurt so much afterwards.

I have horrible reactions to tetaus shots. I get a HUGE red spot (much larger than a softball) that gets hard, hot and hurts like hell. My doctors never worried about it and told me to take an over the counter pain medication for it. For me, the pain lasts 1-2 weeks.

I hope you feel better soon. Best wishes.

Viscosity of the fluid injected? Other tissue damage due to the nature of the fluid injected? Good question, I've noted that also.
