Me: Why don't you leave people of other faiths alone? They will come to a church (there are many everywhere) if they want to learn about your religion.

Evangelical: Because we're doing them a service. We just want them to be able to go to heaven.

Me: Why don't you let them find their own path? I'm sure if God loves us, he will love us no matter how we chose to believe or not believe, because that's what love is.

Evangelical: The Bible says accepting Jesus Christ as your lord and savior is the only way to Heaven, and to be with God.

Me: What about the people that find true peace in Buddhism or Islam?

Evangelical: They are worshiping false Gods and the Bible says you should have no other Gods.

Me: What does what the Bible says matter to a person that doesn't see the Bible any differently that you see the Quran?

Evangelical: That's different. Our book is the right one!

Me: How could you possibly know that?

Evangelical: It says so.

Wow Seraph, yours is a way worse argument for Christianity than mine was.

Christianity is a great belief system, if you don't look too closely at the logic. It relies on circular reasoning and pat answers. It's brilliantly constructed to rest upon its own internal logic... all arguments against it (for example, the myriad OTHER belief systems, which are just as valid) are rejected a priori because they're "evil" or "of Satan".

It is right up till the end then they lose it by the pat answer of "It says so."

We do not leave those of opposite faiths alone and others because we have a duty to our Saviour. Jesus gave us the great commission and to love our fellow man. However, if some one is not receptive we should respect them.

God made the world and the rules that govern it. He is the one that says what is required for salvation. There is no other path only one way to peace and the rest lead to hell.

While Buddhism has some great thoughts it is still not the right path. Islam is a corrupted view of God. While there is no polite way to say it they do lead to false gods.

To the person that cannot see the difference between the Bible and the Koran there is little hope for them at that time and you are right we cannot help them.

Our path is the right one and while it does say so in the Bible there is a certain level of truth one can understand when reading even for the first time. We believe the Holy Spirit will help the earnest seeker to see the truth.

Faith and Logic are not always going to be viewed together sometimes Faith leave logic confused.

Me: Why don't you leave people of other faiths alone? They will come to a church (there are many everywhere) if they want to learn about your religion.

Evangelical: Why don't you practice what you preach and leave me alone? I am practicing what I am preaching therefore I am doing what the Bible tells me to do, to preach the good news to people.

Me: Why don't you let them find their own path? I'm sure if God loves us, he will love us no matter how we chose to believe or not believe, because that's what love is.

Evangelical: Find their own path to what and where? You assumed that each path taken is valid, but is that assumption true? Yes, God loves us, but love is not condoning the wicked or allowing people to persist in the wrong path. Love does not force, but neither does love means "Hey, do what you like and do your own thing." If you tell your kids that you are a total failure in parenting!

Me: What about the people that find true peace in Buddhism or Islam?

Evangelical: And so? Since when is peace THE determinant of truth? Peace in Buddhism is the denial of what's real. Peace in Islam is when all the world is subjugated to Islam and Sharia rules so you sure you want this kind of peace? Wake up!

Me: What does what the Bible says matter to a person that doesn't see the Bible any differently that you see the Quran?

Evangelical: The Bible says that there will be people who will accept or reject what we preach. The Bible also says that the devil has blinded the eyes of many. But our God is far greater than the devil. As long as we are faithful to preach the good news and pray for the unbelievers, God can work in the hardest of hearts.

Me: How could you possibly know that?

Evangelical: The Bible says so, and our experiences bear it out.

Me: There is no logic in this argument!

Evangelical: Which part of the dialogue has no logic?

The Bible is a selection of books that have been respected over the years. No one passage is to be taken actually or out of context. The choice of books, that we have, used to be based through the Church on the Council of Trent. This used to be headquartered on what the Jewish religion had passed down; plus the writings of the Apostles. It is the historical past of Salvation. It isn't the ideals of fundamentalists or evangelicals that's the main issue. It's while they are attempting to justify their evil movements. This is the paintings of the satan/devil, the high-quality deceiver. If humans misuse the presents which they're given through God; this doesn't make God liable. We all have the reward of loose-will. God does impel any one to do evil, or well for that topic. We are given the alternative to opt for, until we're constrained through the sin of a further. God has paid the ransom for all our sins, by way of the ardour & loss of life of Jesus.

Your dialogue in itself doesn't make sense, you're right.
Because you're missing the key piece of the discussion. A personal relationship with Jehovah God. That direct interaction is what tells us the Bible is right, not the Bible itself. When you come into a personal revelation of God, you understand truth. Our belief in God is no different than your belief in your own earthly father. You just know he's real because you've had personal interaction with him. It's the same with God for those who have met Him. And He says that He is the only way.

Those who choose to not be with Him, in the end they get what they want. Hell is simply the total absense of God. All good things come from God, so hell would be the total absense of all good things. So yes, we tell people about the truth we have found out of love, hoping that they will also see the truth and be saved from that eternity of suffering. Many go about it the wrong way, and for that I apologize, but the true intent is loving.

Me: I believe in Jesus Christ because he claimed to be God, and then he proved it by raising himself up from the dead.

You: Uh-huh.

Me: One of the things Jesus commanded us to do, just before he went back to heaven, was to go out and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

You: Uh-huh.

Me: That's why Christians go out of their way to bring the light of Christ to those living in darkness ... and the Bible really has very little to do with it.

You: ???

No, that's your own straw man construction of evangelical logic.

" Why don't you let them find their own path? I'm sure if God loves us, he will love us no matter how we chose to believe or not believe, because that's what love is."

Answer: Rom 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(edited Romans 10:9-17) "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved., For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."

... But how are they to call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?

...So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Ultimately, all arguments are based on an unsubstantiated claim or are circular. Go back to Philosophy 101.

You're right. It's not a logical argument-- it's an emotional one.
