Why is it that cat haters started there "cat hating" because one cat did something mean to them in self-defense, but yet when a dog does that to them they don't hate all dogs. Why do you think this is?

I think it's just an excuse because they already didn't really like cats. What I don't get is why people are so passionate about their cat hating. I mean, I know people who don't particularly like dogs, but they aren't as nuts about it as the cat haters.

I hated cats before I found my cat artimus... one day I looked out in the yard and saw this little black thing trying to walk over the grass..he was like 4 inches long and 3 inches high... anyway, I thought it was a rat.. I ran out in the yard and was going to kick the heck out of him.. then noticed it was a TINY kitten... i picked him up and he meow'd.... I was hooked and then started bottle feeding him.. I took him to work and carried him around in my front shirt pocket for a few weeks.. now he is my best friend and I love him to death.... I think most people dont know what a cat really is... I didnt... now I couldnt even dream of having a dog....

Because some people are just mean and miserable. Some people like to focus their hatred by stereotyping and generalizing so that they can feel justified in singling out a specific group. For some that is a particular animal for others it is skin color, religion, sexual orientation, profession whatever. I think it is fine to not be a cat person. Cats don't fit everyone's life style but that is no excuse to be mean to one or someone who has one.

Everyone's got their biased thoughts. Just think about religion and politics. Right-wing christians sometimes blame all muslims for the actions of the terrorists, but then, was the KKK not christian? I'm sure there are plenty of cases out there where biased, irrational thinking has caused some problems.

Because cats are more intelligent than dogs. And they intimidate people.
