You have my permission to feel guilty because you did not have her spayed by the time she was 6 months old. However, first pregnancies in felines are no more riskier than they are in humans and most cats don't apply for welfare assistance. I have had mommacats under 12 months of age give birth in my home or thereabouts including an auto dealership which called on me for rescue/.placement. Have some confidence in your mother to be as cats have a better "on time delivery" record than UPS or Fed-Ex.
Okay, ya got 4-5 weeks to go as gestation period for cats is around 9 weeks. Prepare for her a quiet place where she can deliver....your room, a garage or other serene area where mom can deliver the goods quietly. Provide a box with a clean blanket in a favored closet or area she has been shown and let her do "what she does." Would not hurt to inform your DVM you are an "expectant proxy mom" just in case the birth process becomes complicated, but stats are in your favor that mamacat can deal with all comers. I guess I am a qualified feline "midwife" in that I have witnessed so many kitties, so few welcoming homes coming into this world.
Not the age of your cat which should frighten you, hon, it's the scaaary world.. Contact me, my name is houstonpackard @yahoo.com so you can find me there. I am a feral caretaker and a member of Yahoo Team Feral....look us up, and ket me know what you need, xoheidiX

My kitty was born to a "tween" mom (she was only 8 months old). That was 17 years ago and my kitten never had any health problems nor does she to this day. The litter consisted of 4 kittens and all lived as well as the mum. No, it's not great for them to get pregnant at such a young age but it shouldn't be a life threatening situation. Now you know how easily it can happen so don't wait any longer than you have to to have your kitty spay after this is over.
Side note, my kitty never got any larger than 6 pounds. She's 17 years old and still looks like a kitten.

She will probably be fine if she is pregnant, it might stunt her growth though. Take her to the vet. Let the vet examine her to see if she is even pregnant and if she is not, there is no time like the present to get her spayed. If she is you will have a head start on finding homes for her kittens. There is also the option of getting her spayed while she is pregnant (this will cost more, I had this misfortunate experience with a stray dog that we took in to have spayed and found out she was a couple weeks pregnant during the surgery, which explained why she was thrown out) That sounds really mean but if you can't find homes for them, the shelter might put them down anyway depending on where you live. I hope that it turns out well for you and your kitty.

A stray cat we had awhile back was really young when she had kittens. Everything came out all right when she gave birth (she ripped the bags off them and such). The only problem we saw with her was that she wouldn't always feed her kittens so we had to and when she tried to carry her kittens she was to small so she ended up dragging them around. So be careful and watch her until the babies are old enough to sell or give away.

Please, please, please get your cats fixed regardless of whether they are male or female! If your still hesitant, take a visit to you local animal shelter in about a month when kitten season begins to peak, and remember many of those kittens will probably end up euthenized, because they could not find homes. I'm not trying to pick on you, and I'm sorry if it seems that I am, it's just something I feel everyone should be aware of before they take in the responsibility of a pet. I've worked in shelters and it's heartwrenching to even witness one perfectly healthy animal being put down let alone 1,000's!

i did and she had them on march 19,2007. and they are all OK. they are healthy little pigs for kittens and one of has it's eyes opening up already]. mommy cat is doing really great with them. when it's her time to have the kittens she will come find you. and if u have a tile bathroom floor make a place for in there in the bathroom. trust me it's a heck of lot easier to clean than carpeting. and my cat had 6 kittens- 4 females and 2 males.

I had a cat that that had babies at 8 mos. She was fine. Same thing. I put off having her taken care of. She had two with no problem, we kept one and gave the other away. Have her checked by a vet. Make sure she is okay.

Oh do I know how you feel! We started with one cat, she got pregnent and had a litter, we got her fixed, but then one of her babies got pregnent, we took 2 of the 4 in to get fixed, but we thought she was a he. So the baby made it thriugh the birth, but she lost 2 of the 6 babies. No problem though, we handeled it. Got our cats fixed, but a mother cat without a home had kittens across the street in a closed commercial building and took a liking to us, and after a few feedings brought her 4 kittens one by one across the street and into our lives just like that! Ok, at this point we have 12 cats on our property and the neighbors are eyeballing us like we are freeks and trapping our cats and doing God knows what with. In the meantime strays and the like have put the word out about us and all kinds of cats come around that are homeless, or just want to check out what's happening . I swear we must have 16 or more cats we are currently feeding, and we go to buy cat food at least one a day. It costs me about 300.00 per month to care for these cats. We love them all, some are special some are just so, so. Some get unhappy because there so many, and they leave, but will often come back all beat up, and hungry. We tried giving up 1, out of a set of 4 black ones. We gave it to some friends, on the other side of town. It was hard, but we gave it to them, and hoped our kitten would be happy, cats adjust, right? Two days later our friends called me and told me that their new cat, the one we gave them seemed very depressed, unhappy, and seemed homesick for it's 3 brothers and sisters. We flew out of our house drove across town at 11:00 p.m. ,I ran up to their front door and there was our kitty just crying and carring on. I grabbed up that baby and held it like a child and got her back to her family. Needless to say, I have a hard time giving away any of the cats, they are all so special and unique. I know people who don't like cats, or animals in general, and I feel sorry for them because they have never spoken with and shared any time with a cat. It's not easy to be lonely , or bored if you have a bunch of cats, that's for sure.
So my dear don't be sad about your beautiful cat, she will be fine, you can help her with her birth, just by being there for her when she has her babies. Then if you don't want to keep them all (hardy har, har) try to find them new homes in pairs , not one at a time. Cats are people too, and don't want to be seperated, Remember that, and don't worry, you'll do fine.

Call a vet and have her examined. She may need a c-section or a kitty abortion if the vet feels that would be best for her. Have her spayed as soon as he says it is possible.
