I still remember suday school songs I was taught:

I teach at a sunday school class (we actually just call it children's church) and we generally use more contemporary music. There is christian music created specifically for the kids. We sometimes do some of the older songs that their parents grew up with, but a lot of the new stuff speaks to kids and is also fun for them. I teach at a very large, high-energy church and it is amazing to see the kids singing, dancing, and worshiping. The sunday school image has definitely changed in a lot of churches, kids don't relate well to a stuffy, restricted atmosphere. It is visible to me that most of the kids truly enjoy coming to class.

I don't have children, but my church has Sunday School and they teach the children the old songs, the classics if you will. i think that's nice. I look forward to my children when I'm married and have some, being taught the songs too.

Some Sunday schools teach songs and some don't. Our church does teach them.

My kindergarden brother was taught "This little light of mine" along with many other christian based songs while attending public school - And our family is not Christian.
