The human race grows more intelligent with every generation. Hence the growing reason to not believe in a god.

I think that the younger generation, as all younger generations do, is searching for meaning. In our childhood we live in a world of "good and evil." All very clear and easy to understand. As we reach puberty, there are changes in the way we think, based on changes in brain chemistry. We begin to question the moral absolutes that we lived by earlier and find that we don't often have conclusive answers.
Young people are often inclined to drift away from their parents' beliefs. Very often they come back or develop spiritual beliefs of their own which serve them in good stead.

I'm an agnostic, and I firmly believe in God. All of my kids do, and one is a Catholic and another one is a born-again evangelist protestant. Two others are like me, and consider religion to be a very personal, individual relationship. Going to church is often merely a social function --- not necessarily a sign of religious devotion, anyway.
On other matters, I've noticed the younger generation ( early 20's) are actually very conservative compared to the baby boomer generation.
Thank God.

The church has let it all go, it is like we do not care anymore. WE have let it all slip away, we let them live in their sinful pleasures and do not even make an attempt to show them the truth....
All we do is put up a sign that says our Church door is always open, yet we do nothing to show them that being a Christian is the greatest thing that will ever happen to them. I am one of the lucky ones, I have been raised in a christian enviroment, I go to a private school. but even a school i see those that claim to be christian, yet do not show it when the teachers are gone....
We as the people of God, need to step up to the plate, we have let the world bat too long and we're losing, we need to get out there and start hitting some home runs.....

It is because youth today take notice of the hypocritical way of the religious world.
Take Catholic Priests for instance.......the media provides all the hidden things we fear.
Religion is a self righteous act where one believes he is above all others. Not true and kids are much more informed of religious actions and the hypocrisy that goes with it. Nothing can hide behind the alter.

Yes, that's because our governments no longer force us to practice a certain religion and society puts on less pressure to have a religion, so the people that normally would be bullied into it and not like it remain secular. I believe there were just as many Agnostics and Atheists before freedom of religion, but of course they couldn't show it.

I don't see that. I think all generations are a little secular. It probably happened when you were young but they hid it very well. They have doubts and questions so don't expect them to be religious.

Yes and it's excellent!
Higher IQ's and better education mean that people have less tolerance for such childish nonsense as religion.
As the poster above me said, let's hope this is another Renaissance!
