What would stop a future government, worried about overpopulation, from deciding it is their business to force woman to have abortions? Case in point: China.

Nicholas H is -Why do people keep connecting to me on Yahoo 360? a religious question?

Just like evolution, which belongs in science, as long as religious fundamentalists make abortion a religious issue, it is a religious issue.

Yes, this is what is going to happen. We wouldn't have control over our body, the government will decide what we should do with our body based on the morality of the congressmen. If a government prevents a woman from having an abortion, what's to stop them in the future from forcing a woman to have an abortion?

This question just reeks of narrow mindedness.

Government is for the protection of its people -- all of its people -- and that include the unborn.

So, it is not the woman's body that a government would have jurisdiction over, it's the life she is charged with preserving that the government is responsible to protect.

Abortion is not the only way to control population. There are other ways that do not require killing people to achieve it.

It would be very, very long time before the US would be overpopulated. Some individual locations may become overpopulated, but not the country at large.

Your question is simplistic. Government establishes jurisdiction over our bodies every day. Among the ways it does include, but is not limited to, speed limits, child abuse and neglect laws, anti suicide laws, criminalizing the taking of certain drugs, outlawing trans-fats, dwi laws, etc. Abortion is a matter for our government to consider because it involves a woman, the man who impregnated her (and who the woman often lawfully expects to financially support her and the baby), and of course the baby (who has human features, organs, DNA and sense of pain). Government BELONGS in the position of regulating the dismemberment and murder of that child. Sorry to disappoint you and actually answer your question rationally, but it begged to be answered.

Yeah and the funny part is that most of the government consists of ignorant men who wouldn't even have the responsibilty of carrying a baby. Easy for them to say, huh?

I'm not saying that all men are like that. And also, this abortion thing should really come to an end.

This is really making me start hating my own human race. When my government decides they can make me have a child when i don't want one, that's the day I refuse to admit i ever came from this country. I'm already moving to Denmark because this country sucks so bad.
