The kickboxer, as a matter a fact a kickboxer would ultimatly win against a wrestler any time. A kickboxer would just knee him in the face when defending a takedown. And if it came to a clinch type situation, the kickboxer has workouts specifically for the clinch and knows how to control the pace. I would say the kickboxer by KO, the only way a wrestler would win is if he actually did get a takedown and controlled the hell out of him while on the ground.
But most wrestlers dont know what to do when on the ground, except hold them there. They are usually too afraid to let too much happen because of a turnover on them. Wrestlers are also just very boring in a fight.

using ufc rules, they both have a chance. i think the kickboxer would be quicker on his feet to avoid takedowns, but the wrestler would be strong enough and heavy enough just to hold the striker down. probably the wrestler if he continually got the takedowns and held him down before getting knocked down with a kick or knee to the head, by decision.

A very strong wrestler wont get down by kicks. He will be strong enough to resist that.Just look the way fedor and crocop fighted. You can consider fedor as a strong wrestler and crocop as a kickboxer. One who is stronger will win.Cro cop defeated all the persons who are weaker than him.He can finish wandy without using his legs also.
