I've been around quite a few instances where tasers were deployed. I've never seen one used "for no reason." Actually, in every case, force was the best option, and if the taser hadn't been used, it would have been physical force, OC, baton, K9 or any combination.
I may be wrong, but I have a sneaky feeling that the police report of your arrest may tell a slightly different version.
Next time do as the officer asks you to do and don't be a dick.

Not all cops are like that but theres a few who are a little off. I was working at a group home once, and the guy (who was mentally retarded and autistic) took his meds and locked them in his cabinet. (he has something against pills) we called them and told them what happend becaue he was getting a little agressive about it. The cop (who was twice as big as the guy) put him in a submission hold and he calmed down. But the cop kept screaming IM GONNA TASE YOU and I think it freaked him out and it had to start all over again, cause he didnt really understand what was going on, and i doubt he even knew what a taser was. I think theres a fine line, and that cop crossed it because there was obviously no weapons and no way that little guy was gonna hurt him.
but most cops I worked with understand what "necessary force" is, its just a few looneys that make them all look bad.

ummm, did it take you as long as this woman to get out of the vehicle? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGXH-MwUt5E
lol (she deserved every bit of it, maybe even more)
Sorry, but I don't know any cops that are willing to put themselves in the position of losing their jobs and being accused of excessive force, just to taser someone. I mean they get real life training with the taser, so it's not like they are just dying to see how someone reacts to it. So it's hard to believe that you just weren't fast enough, you must have been doing more. Talking back, or something to make them think you were not cooperating with them and they needed to use that amount of force.
Well, I'm sure they have it all on video, and I haven't seen it on the news yet! And something like that surely would, people just love to hear something like that, it would be playing for months with talks of lawsuits and such.
Why were you asked to get out of your car anyhow? Not a routine stop...

You deserved it and had it coming. The cops rightfully tasered you for not moving fast enought. They taser people because they don't move fast enough.

How many times did they ask you to get out of your car? I'm willing to bet that it was more than ten times.

All of these posters that are saying you deserved it without knowing the facts are EXACTLY why cops need to be monitored so closely.
No cop is above the law and cops cannot and must not bully people without a need for it.

IfI was a cop and I had a taser, I would probably use it as much as possible without getting into trouble. It would be fun to watch people shake around and scream!

Because they are the LAW and you should always jump at their every command whilst they are allowed to disregard every one with no apparent consequence. It sucks. Cops, judges, lawyers etc should all be held to a higher penalty when they break the law or are caught performing violent acts because these hypocrites are responsible for upholding the law and have the ability to take away the freedom of others.
Did you see the video of the old lady being tasered last year? She was a bit unreasonable, but she eventually tried to comply. However, it effected her so badly she couldn't move her arms. So, they tasered her repeatedly for not putting her hands behind her back. The whole time she was crying and muttering "I can't. I can't move my arms." That was some sick stuff.
