Why did you ask this question? I've got a dark sense of humour more than anybody I know but this comment and the answers given on this page sounds like it is coming from geniunely ignorant people. Ask the same question in regards to race or people in wheelchairs and see what response you get. They're just people who fell on hard times, they need somewhere to put there stuff without it getting stolen.
As a Manic Depressive on medications I can tell you that my hodgepodge of junk consists of a Packard Bell Easy Note Laptop and a Clinique make-up line. If my room does get messy its because things have havn't been coping like half the other students I know who aren't manic depressive.
For God sake, they aren't cartoon characters, they're people. ANYBODY can become mentally ill. At least educate yourself before saying stuff like that.

I believe many homless and or mentally ill to be extremely intellegent and artistic abstract thinkers. I know it looks like a junkpile to most, but it could be things near and dear to the persons heart, or sort of a surreal echo friendly type of outdoor gallery display. Things are not always as they seem....right Tat? There is no ridicule or judgement in your question as the clinique girl thought!
XOXO

I think you may have confused this. You are thinking of stalkers. They usually get fixated on a person and build a shrine to them. It's over the line and a criminal offense.

I believe they feel that they don't have anybody or anything they can call their own, so in their mind and with the items they are able to collect becomes whatever they may imagine.

Yes, why don't they sell it to some art gallery or art collector and buy themselves a mansion in the suburbs. Ha-ha!
