Well, since you are on restricted sodium you should steer away from processed foods. If you look at the nutritional label you will find that a lot of foods exceed the recommended sodium level. My suggestion to you is to build on the normal boring diet that doctors give to patients with high blood pressure/cholestorol. You may want to stock up on Mrs. Dash which now has a variety of marinades.
I have been on a diet which restricted sodium and after a while you don't miss the table salt. I mostly stuck to whole foods like turkey, chicken, and fish. Basically, cutting the unnecessary sodium so you want to steer clear of fresh poultry which is enhanced with seasoned broth (this is normally really small at the bottom of the package.) The difference is that a natural brand like Perdue would have about 70mg per serving and one with that seasoned broth is 230mg per serving. Sometimes the turkey will also be a little high in sodium. I had have luck with the Jennie O - Turkey Store products. You will find that eating this way will definitely help to decrease water retention. You can find recipes for low sodium meals on mrsdash.com.

Anything without salt or less salt will reduce this. One thing I never thought of before until recently because I had to take Potassium supplements is maybe more Potassium might help balance out the effects of too much salt too because both Sodium and Potassium are crucial elements in balancing water processes in our bodies. Potassium helps with absorption of water and generally reduces high blood pressure; whereas, sodium generally does the opposite. If you were to go out for dinner somewhere and the food was high in sodium content and salt, you may be able to have a banana and other foods with lots of potassium to balance out the high blood pressure. If your problem is serious, you will need a doctor prescribed high blood pressure pill.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Apples are great for anything that you need for your body to be healthy.I think if you want to avoid salty foods that are bad for you it's easy.Just avoid eating out, don't eat anything from a box or a can,no hot dogs,no frozen burritos.Just eat foods which are naturally grown and if you use salt use light salt.Never use soy sauce even if it's light sodium.Doctors refer to soy sauce as coffin salt, because if you eat enough of it you'll end up in a coffin. If you want protein eat fish or chicken, you can put some fish in the oven, with some no salt seasoning and bake it for however long it takes to cook and it will taste very good.No salt seasoning is a great way to season your food without using any salt.Oh avoid cheese, cheese is very high in sodium and especially lunch meat, lunch meat is swimming in salt.I have really good blood pressure and I eat allot of garlic and onions and use red wine vinegar in salads.Did you know mosquito's will leave you alone if you eat garlic? They don't like the smell or the taste of it in your blood. It's very good for you too.Hope you get better soon, good luck!
