He dumped you on your birthday? Well I hope you cut his balls off for that.
Normally the shy, quiet guys are the ones who will treat you the best since there ego isn't over-inflated. The ones that you normally would look past and then of them as weird shy geeks are normally the ones who will treat you with the most respect.
