It's not about God "not loving", it's about God "not existing".
My husband also suffers constant pain but he doesn't blame God. He's a deist. He believes a "higher power" exists but that it's totally disconnected from our existence.
I see that the god concept is logically impossible and that's why I'm telling you that god has nothing to do with his or your pain. It's just a very tragic part of your lives. We're working on chronic pain management just like you are, but god will have nothing to do with it.

I'm so sorry you are in so much pain! I am with you there-- I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, herniated discs, thyroid cancer and severe environmental as well as food allergies. All this for the past 15 years and I am 39 years old.
I've tried to use these ailments for good-- to boost people up who are there with me, to prod doctors and researchers to investigate more and to basically serve as a positive role model.
I am a Christian and try to change this horrid situation into something that will benefit others. I know God is there but most of the time, I feel I can best serve Him by serving others. I would be lying if I said I never had days where it all seemed like too much and I wondered where God was in all this.
My body may be weak, but I work on strengthening my spirit. That is what I will take with me and the legacy I will leave behind.
Often, life is not what we expect, but what we do with what we are given.
I certainly wish you all the best and hope you can overcome this illness!!

friend, God does love you-He always has, and He always will...why are you not healed? i cannot possibly tell you the answer to that-i know nothing of the nature of your disability, and, even if i did, i would be no closer to understanding it...i don't believe it is a 'punishment' for sin...and i don't believe it is Satan...God's ways frequently seem beyond reason...but beyond reason is where faith resides...perhaps it is like when Christ healed the blind man and said 'it was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents, but it was in order that the works of God might be displayed in him'....maybe the fact that you have been able to endure to this point despite your disability is something that other people need to know about in order that we not be so discouraged by lesser problems of our own...maybe someone is reading your post and is saying "and i'm complaining about a few minor aches and pains? this person is putting up with far worse!" and maybe God is testing the compassion of people who read your post and offering them the opportunity to encourage and support you...and maybe, just maybe, He just hasn't healed you YET! but never doubt that God loves you...He never promised an easy journey, but He did provide for a wonderful landing!

Well, the theology is wrong, but it doesn't mean God doesn't exist.
When I first read the book of Job, it surprised me that God did not offer an apology for the way he "treated" Job. In fact, I looked at God as "mean" for not only testing but reprimanding him after that test when Job thought he was innocent before God. It took me awhile to realize that the theology of today expects God to be loving of everyone, a nice little fuzzball that wants, hopes, wishes, pleads for his own creation to love him back. He allows bad things to happen as a test, or it's a mystery, or it's your fault because of sin, or it's Satan, etc. etc. as you already mentioned.
I've had bad things happen in my own life, and the only way I can reconcile this is by me not deserving anything at all from God. Kind of a depressing way to look at man's condition, but I think God would be totally justified in taking every single one of us and throwing us in the trash can. We simply are not worthy of heaven, we can't even make a choice for Him, it's that bad. And if it is that bad, then we are left with only one thing that does save us -- God's grace. Job didn't have a thing to claim, and neither do we.
So, live your life, do what you can in this world, and trust God, Ecclesiastes 12:13.

"Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one coming to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6)
I don't want to sound callous, but your speech clearly betrays that you don't have faith, and James says a double-minded person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord (James 1:5-8)
The only way faith is going to come is by a humble, submissive attitude before the Word of God, the Bible. The Bible says faith comes by a hearing, and a hearing by a word of Christ (Romans 10:16), so if faith is absent now that can change. From what you are saying, your greatest need is not physical healing, but to come to a saving knowledge of the love of God who sent His Son from heaven to die on a cross for your sins. Whatever you suffer in this life is after all, temporary; but without a knowledge of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, death will not be an improvement. If you are open to it, you can hear faith building sound Bible teaching at the following website: http://www.derekprince.org/site/PageServer
Peace to you.

God is the personification or the embodiment of love, there is a God and he loves you, God is not to be blamed for what befalls you, remember that Satan charged that nobody will remain faithful to God under test, trusting in God does not mean that he will make all our problems go away or he will shield us from harm.

God loves no one. I've been suffering with constant tragedy which are the deaths of my father and grandmother in the same week. My friend died in a car crash less than one year after graduation. I found my grandfather on the floor in a pool of blood. He had a massive heart attack and hit his head when he fell. I've lost one dog to cancer, another to cushings and another died at the house of a heart attack. I had to cut ties with my mother because all she did was verbally abuse me to the point of becoming a cutter and after my dad died I tried suicide, which of course didn't work. I could have had a career in writing if all these senseless traumas didn't happen. I know life is hard but why pick someone apart so bad that you have no reason left to live for.

First I am very sorry for the bad hand dealt to you in life. Yes, it just doesn't seem fair. I don't believe in the Christian God and have come to understand that faith has nothing to do with the physical nature of the universe. We are given opinions in life and not Free Will as we are led to believe, because if we had Free Will, we could will ourselves in to flight without and airplane. Or in your case, will yourself free of your disability. The only options we have in life is to make the best of what we have meaning, do the best we can with what we have. I am sure you can touch someone else's life with your story helping the to see just how good they have it. You are still a useful human-being and you must think of yourself in this way.

We never know what GOD's reasons for doing things are but that doesn't mean HE doesn't love you. Maybe HE's testing your faith (like he did Job's). We just don't know. Instead of trying to do things you physically can't do, try being the very best at what you can do. Please don't lose your faith. Keep Steven Hawking in mind. He can't do anything but think but he sure does it well. There are always folks much worse off than we are. I don't know what your disability is so can offer only the above advice & I can/do wish you all the best.

> But if there is, moderChristianity's representattion of Him is surely wrong.
Why don't you look up a little history. Read what the historical view of the Church has been. I'd look at the view from the puritians, from preachers like Charles Spurgeon. I would agree with this minor point to a degree. Modern "all-loving" god concept is not in the bible. God is mercyful and caring, but not to the arrogant and pride-filled and boastful. That is because they set themselves up as enemies of God. God loves goodness, and by loving what is good, He hates what is bad. When you embrace sin, you make yourself God's enemy. God never changes. He does however show different parts of His character at different times.
As for the disability or whatever it may be, when you look into eternity, and realize that everyone dies, and this life is incredibly short. Within 100 years each of our bodies will be nothing more than dirt that is eaten by the worms. So what is far more important than a disability is your soul.
Please don't mention "fairness". That is nothing more than a vain sin of covetousness. Is it fair for a child to have died in a car wreck. Look in the obituaries and consider all the families asking if it was fair for them that their loved one died?
The bible says simply this. When we die, we stand before God in Judgment. He judges us by the 10 commandments, and therefore all humanity stands before Him condemned. Do you know anyone who has not told a lie? The bible says ALL liars will have their part in the lake of fire.
So since you are an enemy of God, God can do as he pleases and there is NO moral delema at all because the only one in the Wrong is you. So God can take back the life He gave you and rightly so. He can cripple you for life, and rightly so. He can allow you to be burned beyond recognition and yet even spare your life, so that you will be in constant pain. And this too, rightly so because you are God's enemy through your sinful lifestyle and wicked ways.
I think that's what you are missing from the asessment of God that you mentioned. The bible says God is Love, and in Him there is No wickedness at all. So by a single sin, you rebel against God. Many post-modernists think that they can create God through beliefs. This is rubbish. God is the one who created them, and it doesn't matter what they believe God to be. That will not change the unchangable God. God has a terrible wrath, and many Christians don't talk about it. In fact many "christians" are offended by the idea God would be wrathful, but the bible presents the True God and all of His attributes.
So what hope do you have, since all men deserve punishment for rebelling against the Holy God? The only hope is God himself, and His mercy. God came in the form of a man, in Jesus Christ and lived the perfect life that we can't live. He then went to the cross and died so to pay for the punishment we deserve. He offers us His righteous life as a free gift for the forgiveness of our sins, but to accept this gift, you must repent of your wicked ways, and you must trust in Christ as your only hope.
Repentance is not just asking for forgiveness. Repentance is when you get on the computer and stop yourself from going to that smutty website. Repentance is realizing what sin you have done and stopping it. Turning from it.
Trusting in Christ is realizing that there is no other way, no method, no kindharted words that will allow you to experience God's totally righteous judgment for your life other than Christ. Trusting Jesus is surrendering your life to Him, not matter what that means, and no matter what all you have to lose for Him.
It's Not a prayer and a pat on the back and a preacher saying "you're saved". It's a lifestyle of daily obedience and repentance.
Then Christ will give you mercy when you call upon His name, and He will give you power over your sin, and yes, even your pride. He will humble you and then lift you up in due time. But serving Him is NEVER about what you can get out of God. It is what can you do to continue to Glorify Him?
