There are Christians everywhere. There aren't going to be as many visible in the middle east because their lives are in danger. They can be killed for being one. There was just an article on Y! News the other day about 2 Christian women who escaped from there. Their husbands had been killed for being Christian. People are scared to convert and if they do, they must remain in hiding.

I worked in the Middle east for eight years as a missionary. It is estimated that there are about 2% of the population of most of the Middle East that is Christian despite the severe persecution of Christians. I was involved in smuggling bibles written in Arabic. If I had been caught I would have been beheaded. Christians are forbidden from even praying in their own homes.
